Bruno Calls Spitzer's Campaign Finance Idea Nuts

A legislative leaders' meeting in Albany today between Eliot Spitzer, Joe Bruno and Sheldon Silver hit upon the issue of campaign finance reform, which Spitzer supports and Bruno doesn't.
Bruno objected to campaign contribution caps, saying he didn't know why anybody should be prevented from sending Republicans $100,000 if they wanted to.And the most significant impact of the ban on fund-raisers within 40 miles of the capital during the legislative session, he said, would be to hurt local restaurants.
"I say this very respectfully -- that is nuts" Bruno said of the proposed reforms.
Spitzer smiled.
"This is not a First Amendment issue," he said afterwards.
