8 a.m. Hillary Clinton strategist Ann Lewis and teachers' union president Randi Weingarten will discuss “Women's Agenda in Today's Political Life'' panel at The Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street at Houston Street.

8:30 a.m. Comptroller William Thompson will address the Association for a Better New York at the Hilton New York, 1335 Sixth Avenue between 53rd and 54th streets.

10 a.m. Students will perform at the opening of a state-of-the-art playground that was once a barren asphalt lot at P.S. 242, 134 West 122nd Street.

11 a.m. Ann Wright, a retired Army colonel who was barred from entering Canada after her name showed up in an FBI database, will appear at a CODEPINK Women for Peace press conference in front of the Canadian Consulate, 1251 Sixth Avenue.

Noon. Edison Electric Institute will hold a briefing on energy efficiency at the Westin New York, 270 West 43rd Street.

Noon. Councilman Bill de Blasio and environmental and business leaders will call for Mayor Bloomberg to support a bill that would require manufacturers to collect and recycle TVs, computers, MP3 players and other electronics on the City Hall steps.

2 to 3 p.m. Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes will discuss the impact of family violence at the Lutheran Medical Center, 150 55th Street.

6 p.m. Grammy-winning recording artist Kathy Mattea, state officials and environmentalists will participate in a global warming awareness event at St. Bart's Church, Park Avenue and 51st Street.

6 p.m. Washington Governor Chris Gregoire will discuss suing the Bush administration over the S-CHIP legislation at an event hosted by the Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century and Council person Jessica Lappin at Opal Lounge, 251 East 52nd Street.

7 p.m. Young Jewish Leadership Political Action Committee will screen “Ever Again,” a film about the resurgence of anti-Semitism and terrorism in the West, at Aish NY, 313 West 83rd Street.

7 p.m. NYC lawyers chapter of the Federalist Society will host a panel discussion on the proper role of state attorneys general, with an emphasis on the student loan investigation, at the Cornell Club, 6 East 44th Street.

7 p.m. Lakota (Sioux) leaders Debra and Alex White Plume will host a screening of “Standing Silent Nation,” a PBS documentary about the DEA's destruction of their hemp crop at the International Action Center, 55 West 17th Street.
