Laliberte’s Lodgings Looted, Spurs Stylist’s Move to Soho

Kristian Laliberte, the flamboyant events coordinator/men’s clothing buyer/stylist, is looking for new digs after a recent break-in at the apartment he’s renting on 96th and Second, in what he called “a not-very-nice section of the Upper East Side.”

Along with a Patek Philippe watch that had belonged to his grandfather, Mr. Laliberte’s laptop also disappeared. “I’m writing a book, and my book was on it!” he yelped during a smoking break from a benefit for the Institute of Civic Leadership at Buddha Bar on Wednesday, May 9—a party also intended to kick off the 10-day, much-ballyhooed High Line Festival, curated by the musician David Bowie. (Mr. Bowie and his wife, supermodel and cosmetics mogul Iman, were no-shows at the event.)

A shaken Mr. Laliberte, 23, is planning to move to Soho in June. “I’m looking at a couple places, but I really want to move into Ian Schrager’s place on 40 Bond. It’s beautiful! Ian Schrager’s my idol!” he said of the nightclub guru turned hotelier.

Though Mr. Laliberte refused to disclose the budget for his prospective new condo, he admitted that his parents would probably be helping him financially with the purchase: “For investment purposes.”
