Nicholson Furious Over Heath as Joker

Jack Nicholson, a member of a dying breed of Geezer Roues according to the Observer's Spencer Morgan, might not even see the new Batman movie, Dark Knight, because he can't bear to watch pretty boy Heath Ledger play the Joker, which he made famous in the original Tim Burton-directed Batman.
MTV: What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker in next summer's "The Dark Knight"?
Nicholson: Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me.
MTV: It was never brought up?
Nicholson: No. It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious.
MTV: I'm surprised to hear you sounding competitive about a role like that.
Nicholson: Well, the Joker comes from my childhood. That's how I got involved with it in the first place. It's a part I always thought I should play.
MTV: Will you see the new film?
Nicholson: I'm not inclined to watch it because of what I said. But if it's a good movie, I'll catch up with it somewhere. I don't think they ever really captured Tim Burton's spirit [since he stopped being involved]. They kind of drove the franchise into the ground. Tim Burton's a genius. He had the right take on it. That's why I did the movie. I did the movie based on a single conversation with him. We both come from the cartoon world originally. We had similar ideas. Tim said [the Joker] should have a humorous dark side to him. [Burton is] one of the great moviemakers. I think the world of him. He's the most unassuming man. And he doesn't feel pressure. That's what I love about him. Once he's in there, he's smiling making the movie. That's it!

For those bitching that Jack is a bitter, twisted, arrogant, vain old f--k, I think it's safe to say he's being ironic in his comments here. As in, funny, as in 'I wish Heath all the best'. Fanboys need to lighten up.
No Jack, you're just an ass-kisser to the no talent dirtbag hack, Tim Buton.
Batman (1989) was terrible, Plain and simple. Tim Burton's adaption was a disgrace to the lore in both tone and back story.
Face it Jack, Chris Nolan's Batman rocks and Tim Burton's Batman was a piece of crap.
Quote from Jack:
"Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me."
They probably didn't want you Jack. You're portrayal of the Joker was a disgrace to the lore and to movie goers.
The Joker is suppose to be dark and cynical and his kills are only meant to amuse himself... not the audience.
Nicholson's Joker was a fat, overweight, over the top, over comical embarrassment while dancing to music by Prince. It was so cringfull to watch.
Even Bruce Timm's and Mark Hamill's Joker was better than Nicholson's piece of crap performance.
Nicholson has shown disgraceful behavior pissing on Nolan's parade. It just kill's him Chris Nolan gets it and he and Burton were hacks when it comes to Batman.
Go kiss Tim Burton's ass elsewhere Jack !
I have faith in Nolan and Ledger.
hi i`m new here but i gotta say that jack nicholson just wanst attention he knows too damn well that he`s too old to play the part, of course he knows how to do it from his point of view but i gotta say that ledger looks more threatning with that look than the joker played by nicholson, and as we can see on the trailer is awesome not only looks like a real threat to batman, but he also change the voice to sound more like he`s insane ledger not even uses his voice youy can really tell that`s heath in the screen, and for example jack`s joker you can say he was playing the role as he is in real life, but don`t get me wrong i think jack`s joker is still good but ledger tops that, i can`t wait to see the movie, and well nolan`s change the way batman looks, it looks more real and all the characters acquired some dimensions, they`re not flat like in burton`s and schumacher`s film where the only you see was batman, and the villains, and you forgot `bout gordon, alfred, and sometimes even bruce wayne so it`s better at nolan`s way, and thanks to batman begins a dark character came back to the darkness and not to a magic wierd world (burton`s) or a exagerated gotham with huge monuments ridicles vehivles and a lot of neon lights, so thanks to chris nolan and christian bale, michael cane and now to heath ledger to put batman in the nigh where he belongs.
