AP Readies Britney Spears' Obituary—Part of 'Extensive Operation'

Like the Saturday Night Live skit of ‘Tom Brokaw’ taping a tireless litany of possible deaths, the Associated Press has been preparing Britney Spears’ obituary over the past month.

“We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it’s easily one of the biggest stories in a long time,” the AP’s entertainment editor, Jesse Washington, told Us. He also said that it would be difficult for anyone to argue convincingly that Ms. Spears has not been skating on thin ice recently.

“Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now…but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared,” Mr. Washington added. Apparently this practice is not entirely unusual for the media outlet, which has a “pretty extensive obituary operation.”

That is so sick!!! If anything happens to Ms Spears it is because the media pushed her to her death. It almost seems like the media is trying to force her to her death so they can have the story. LA needs to put a restraining order against all paparazzi right now so this young woman can get her life together. As it stands the media is not allowing her to even come close to straightening out her life, how could she. She can't even drive down the street let alone get out of her car!!!

I am not a fan of Ms. Spears by any means, but I think the pre mature obit shows just one more thing thats wrong in this world!

She needs to get her act together, and stop blaming everybody else for her short comings. I am not saying that it right that the paparazzi is in her business all the time, but she chose a life in the spot light. The paparazzi is around for people like us, people that are leaving comments like these. I do think that the media should back down a few hundred notches, but you are in control of your life nobody else, she needs to take responsibility. I also think that Kevin Federline is a piece of crap riding her coat tales to fame, but she is the one that did not show up in court to fight for her babys.

Every celebrity has a pre-written obituary. It is a common practice. Its just that Britney may be close to having hers published is all.

A premature obituary!!! What sick, distorted mind thought of that? They need more mental help than Britney does. At least we know the reason for her problem, it's called K=fed! The money hungry greedy leech that is sucking the life out of her. If she ends up dead I hope he goes as nuts as she is right now, cuz we know he's a good for nothing piece of meat. he's not a dad. where r his other kids? with mom, of course, there's no money to be had there for him.
Britney needs our prayers and some psychological help, NOT AN OBITUARY! MORONS!!

The paparazzi follows all stars around and you don't see most of them showing their crotch in public and shaving their heads. She could clean herself up if she really wanted to and get her boys back but she is making no attempt to do so. She didn't even show up in court. That is her own LAZY fault. Not the media's. She brought it all on herself. If she didn't act crazy all the time and do stupid stuff the media wouldn't be as interested in her.
She is not even trying to get her life together and is blaming everyone else. I do not feel sorry for her at all. She was the one who let it get out of hand. She only has herself to blame for losing her kids.

If it weren't for Britney, Kevin Federline would have no resources to be fighting this custody battle. Having been her husband for just 2 years, he gets $15,000 a month in child support. I know people who are not earning that much money in a year.

He should give Britney visitation rights, without custodial interference. He should back off and leave her alone.

Any Mother would act out of her mind if her children had been taken from her. This man is out for no one but himself, I don't believe he has the best interests of the children at heart. He walked off and left his other children when he married Britney. In fact, one of them had not even been born - and he walked away. Why is he fighting so hard for these 2 children?

He is nothing but a leach.

Yes, it feels morbid to talk about or write anyone's obituary before the fact.

That being said, I'm no psychiatrist, but from these eyes Britany is speeding toward nervous collapse and/or a psychotic break. I hope someone can take control of her increasing chaotic ride.

Has the chief AP editor been lobotimized? Why would you let a member of your staff confirm and then nonchalantly discuss writing an obituary for a person not yet deceased?

Disgusting.

Daniel (not verified) says:

This is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. Everyone is just using Britney for their own personal satisfaction. I'm so sick of hearing everyone say "Britney Spears is crazy" and "Britney Spears is such a horrible person." There is absolutely no one on this planet that has the right to say that. No one knows anything about Britney but what is put in newspapers and magazines and broadcasted on tv. People are just jealous of her and her fame. She's not crazy, she's not a bad person, and she's not gonna die. Britney, I'm on your side.

FROM THE PICTURES I SAW OF HER SHOPPING LAST NIGHT WITH THE TORN PANTY HOSE, SHE DEFINITELY DOES "NOT" LOOK ON THE VERGE OF DEATH TO ME.............

if britney loves her kids she supposed to show up and fight for the custody battle but instead she was with adnan ghalib..can't you see! she is more happy the way how paparazzi was chasing her butt and vagina. what a crazy jerk!

michaeld5 (not verified) says:

All media outlets draw up obituaries on famous people before they die. It's a common practice..get over this stupid outrage. Britney is a media wh*re; if the paparazzi wasn't following her, she would be distressed, just like the majority of celebrities who "complain" about the constant attention. Don't get into the business you idiots, if you don't like the spotlight. Fact: once you become a celebrity, you become public property, just like a park bench or public toilet.

eurotrash (not verified) says:

I am not a fan of Brit really, but this is so wrong! I feel for her, she is not well obviously.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Actually it is pretty standard for the media to prepare obituaries for people before they die, not because they are hoping the the unfortunate event to happen but because they want to have the facts prepared before the event. What makes this case sad is that they're doing it for someone so young... And I don't think it's fair to compare the Associated Press to the paparazzi.
