Ask (Some of) the Candidates: Silver, Connor, Squadron, Newell, Henry

Democracy for New York City, the progressive group related to Howard Dean's Democracy for America, is holding a forum on Sunday, May 18 for the candidates in two upcoming elections: the one for Sheldon Silver's Assembly seat, and the challenge to State Senator Marty Connor.
And they are asking you (yes, you!) to submit questions online.
Paul Newell and Luke Henry, who are both competing in the Democratic primary against Silver, have confirmed to DFNYC they will attend, although Silver himself won’t be there, as Crain’s reported this morning. According to his campaign spokesman, Jonathan Rosen, Silver “looks forward to getting out on the campaign trail after the legislative session and once we know who all the candidates will be.”
Marty Connor's spokesman told me "he probably will" attend, but they still have questions about how it's being organized. His challenger, former Chuck Schumer aide Dan Squadron, told DFNYC he'll be there.
The event will be held at 127 Norfolk Street from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The forum will be held at the Angel Orensanz Center, which is a really beautiful building, originally designed as a synagogue in 1849: http://www.orensanz.org
Despite being far into the LES, it is easily accessible by subway. Take the F/V to 2nd Ave and walk a few blocks east.
Look forward to seeing you there!
Typical.
Not even in Silver's AD.
It's a shame that Silver has decided not to come. "Waiting to see who the candidates will be" sounds to me like he's looking to take the Republican way out and challenge petitions instead of answering some of the tough questions.
Beautiful building - not handicap accessible. Democracy for NYC & the candidates should consider the handicap voters when they pick venues for debates & other fundraisers.
This is going to be truly interesting...
It's a shame Silver won't be there, but I'm looking forward to hearing from the candidates who bother to show up and ask for our votes in person.
This beautiful building is, indeed, handicap accessible. At least that is what I was told when I just called to verify. DFNYC always goes to great lengths to assure accessibility. Why would someone misinform this way? Is it why they choose to remain "anonymous?"
Anonymous should check their facts before posting.
Let's see you get a wheel chair up those steps.
