Bill Clinton to Sharpton on 'Fairytale' Remark and Obama's War Stance

Bill Clinton just called into Al Sharpton’s radio show to explain what he meant when he referred to Barack Obama’s campaign as a fairytale.
“First of all, that’s not true,” Clinton said. “It’s not a fairytale. He might win. I think he’s a very impressive man and he’s run a great campaign. I was addressing a specific argument [Obama made] that had never been brought up in the debate.”
Obama's argument, Clinton said, was that “[Obama's] relative lack of service in the Senate was not relevant, because he had better judgment than all the Democrats, because he had always been against the Iraq war in every year. And he enumerated the years from 2002 to 2007. And I pointed out that he had never been asked about his statements in 2004, that he didn’t know how he would have voted on the war resolution. And there was, at that time, there was no difference between his position and President Bush’s.”
“Wait a minute," said Sharpton, who hasn't yet endorsed a candidate. "Senator Obama said there was no difference in his position and President Bush’s?”
“In 2004,” Clinton responded affirmatively. “Look, there could be a perfectly good explanation for it [why he would say that]. Maybe he felt once it was done, he just wanted it to work, including the U.N. My point is it disproves the argument that everybody else was wrong and he was right.”
After praising Obama again, Clinton added, “And I have gone out of my way not to express any personal disrespect for him or his campaign, even when they’ve been fairly critical of me and Hillary.”

How does lack of service in the Senate equate to better judgment? At face value, that reasoning makes no sense.
A well-informed person is generally in a better position to make decisions, IF he/she is presented with the correct facts and data. Unfortunately, the Bush Administration presented incorrect facts and misleading data, so decisions in both chambers, the House and the Senate, were formulated on faulty information.
Bill Clinton needs to just shut up. I voted for him twice, I was a Clinton supporter from day one, their time has come and gone. They need to let go of the White House for the good of this country.
We have had enough of both of them. They caved on practically every issue that came before them when they were in office, gays in the military, healthcare, everthing. They gave everything up that they were supposed to figth for the minute it was not polically expedient to keep fighting.
Pleae do us all a favor and just fade away into the twighlight like you are supposed to...
You voted for him twice and the country was doing pretty well when a Clinton was in the white house but now you say for the good of the country the Clintons should stay out of the white house??
What an idiot!!
Clinton must kiss the behinds of the African Nationalists which will soon turn our once great nation into a Third Rate European style welfare nation of No-Goodniks and Foreign types.
Bill 1/8/08: "This is the biggest fairytale I've ever seen."
Bill 1/11/08: "It's not a fairytale."
Here we go again...
what a joke, suddenly sharpton is the new thought police. he's a pimp and the black community is his hoes.... what a joke.
Why does anyone even care what Clinton has to say? Past behavior indicates he will say whatever it takes to get elected; therefore, now that his wife is running, he will say anything to get her elected. Hence his " I was always against the Iraq war" etc comments.
he is not a bigot, he treats everyone in an expedient manner once he has no more use for them...
and the country was doing pretty well when he was president, but it was because the GOP controlled the Congress and before the GOP became so overtly corrupt.
Get serious. The slimeball Clintons have been subtley and not so subtley raking Obama over the coals. The worst part is Mr. & Mrs. Extremely Sick Clinton will pick Obama as their V.P. so people will forget how ticked off they were at Hillary and Bill. Not me. I won't forget.
Please go awaybill! Here's a new slogan for Obama...
NO HILLBILLIES IN THE WHITEHOUSE NOT NOW, NOT EVER.....
Bill Clinton is a CONVICTED LIAR, so why would anyone believe anything he says?
Boy all of a sudden the Clintons are racists. People can say a lot of things about the Clintons but this is ridiculus. Awfully funny Obama campaign pushing this right before the South Caroline primary. This is disgusting. He claims he is above the acts of personal attacks in this campaign but this sure proves him wrong. And I can't believe all these African Americans that supported them all these years are turning on them because Obama is running.
These observations and opinions from war criminal sociopathic pervert Clinton and his shrill and criminal 'wife' are yet another reason why so many of us have abandoned our parents' once-proud party. The Democrats are excellent when the speak of equality and opportunity, but when it comes to action and outcome, they are discovered to be hypocrites. That is why there are no Democrat versions of Condi, Colin, or Clarence. Members of our community are only allowed to rise so far before the patroniozing racist elitist Caucasians who control this angry, archaic party try and put us in our place. The party that brought our ancestors to these shores, invented slavery, Jim Crow, Share Cropping and The Welfare State still wants us all to be quiet, compliant slaves on the plantation. Yes, Miss Hillary! The 1960's and the 1990's are over and so are the Clintons. Disgusting.
The Country wasn't doing well under the Clintons - we just thought we were. That "high tech" bubble that burst and lost our retirement plans and jobs was a fake economy presided over by the Clintons. And they didn't address the terrorist problem that had been building for years. They need to go away.
Send the hillbillies back to Arkansas. I'm tired of them. They play dirty and change their positions whenever convenient. Nasty couple in a political marriage.
The GOP corrupt? Yes. But, a lot of hypocrisy. No administration has ever been as corrupt as the Clinton administration. Do your homework.
WHO CARES!?!?!?
I'm pretty ashamed of Bill and, yes, I voted for him twice. He's still telling half-truths (his specialty I guess - afterall he did not have sex with that woman!) and taking quotes out of context. All Obama did in 2004 was defend the voting record of John Kerry, the Democratic candidate for president. Obama *has* always been against the way, unlike Hillary Clinton.
Since 1981 there has been either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House. Enough is enough. Keep them out now...
As a conservative I think they're all Socialists and will destroy this country. Obama is however the best of the worst. His health insurance program is not socialized unlike the other two phonies. He's taken the high-ground and hasn't taken the bait put out by Hillbillary and her organization. The Clinton's invented the politics of personal destruction. They're ruthlessly brutal and will stop at nothing. Everything they say and do is orchestrated and choreographed .. like that gimmick yesterday with the heckler (ya right, he had a Hillary bumper stickeron his car)say "Iron my shirt". Set-up to garner the female vote.
Five scariest words in the in the English language?
"Hillary Clinton Commander and Chief"
Like always, once Billy Bob realizes his mouth mis-spoke, he attempts to back peddle. It is just like his definition of 'is is. Besides, we do not need that cigar toting fellow back around the aides anymore.
What this nation needs in office now are public servants who desire to do the work of the people...not the party.
Given the lackluster performance from a Democratic Congress, maybe 'We the People' need to start fresh.
It's not just the "fairy tale" line. What was the bit about MLK giving inspiring speeches, but it was LBJ who passed the voting rights act? I'll tell you. Blacks can sing and dance, play running back and give inspiring speeches, but it's the white folks who lead--whether it's the GM of a sports team, or a politician in the White House. That's the underlying message and it's creepy.
And another thing. Does Hillary take credit for the Telecommunications Act that ended public control of the airwaves and the greatest media consolidation we've ever seen under Bill? What about the Financial Services and Modification Act that was a gift to the banks, insurance companies and reversed consumer protection?
These things matter and the media should be asking about them, instead of counting Hillary's tears
Don't try to clean it up now Bill. It's too late. You said exactly what you meant.
Anonymous - why are you calling someone an idiot? Aren't we all entitled to an opinion without fear of repercussion?
I understood your point and respected it until the idiot comment.
As a firm conservative with an open mind, I find your unfortunate behavior all too typical of the liberal mindset (I also agree that some conservatives suffer the same affliction). Without the name calling we could actually sit down and discuss things once and awhile - maybe even work some stuff out now and again, just the way you would like, right? Instead conservatives are all dumb Nazi's, idiots and such. How unfortunate.
Whencyou get past this issue, let me know. I would love to know more about how you feel. Especially about the Clintons. I don't see the draw, never have. But if someone could speak to their worth with cogent and kind words I would be happy to listen. Until then the Clinton name is off the table, making Barak Obama look very appealing.
Thank you for this opportunity to post my comment.

Sounds like the pot and the kettle are at it again
typical clinton, trying to spin his way out of insulting Barack Obama. The truth is, if the American people who are not polished politicians themselves, have the intelligence to voice an opinion about the Iraq War, the economy, health care, terrorism, and vote for the next president, then who's to say that Barack Obama doesn't have what it takes to be president? He has leadership qualities which the wife of the former impeached president does not. He hasn't made 16 yrs. old campaign pledges that's he's broken (health care) ala clinton who dares to campaign on the same old stale promise. We know the clinton's miserable record and we reject it. We know enough about Barack to let him give us hope and leadership and the ability to come together. The clinton's are divisive..they need to go back home and stay there. We need someone who has moral respect for the presidency, not trash it like clinton did. Then he lied about it....shame, double shame...!
Either a Clinton or a Bush has been president since 1972. That's over 20 years. By the time Hillay has finished 2 terms it will be closer to 35 years. It's time for another family running our country.
What we are now seeing in the presidential sweepstakes is an examaple of race vs gender in the Democrat Party compliments of Hillary and Obama. If one criticizes Obama he/she is charged with having a racial bias. If one is critical of Hillary's positions they will be open to charges that they are sexist or afraid of a strong woman. Look, if blacks and women are going to run with the big dogs its time they grow up. Running for President of the United States is not for sissys or those with a sensitive side. If Obama, Hillary and their supporters can't take criticism without whining or crying, for the good of the country they need to get the hell out. If you want to run with the big dogs act like a Pit Bull and not a crying whining Chihuahua.
Bill Clinton is a weasel.
This is the truth. But Bill isn't telling half-truths... he's lying!

Clinton is parsing his words again. He went after Obama and now he's being called on his remarks. Own up to what you said, Bill. Obama has a message that resonates with people. Hillary make people's skin crawl.
P.S. Sharpton is a racist idiot
