Consultant Mocks Weiner and 'Some Schmuck With a Sign'

From time to time, politicians attending parades come in for derision. It's less often that you see scorn directed publicly at the dutiful staffers who accompany them.

During a discussion on NY1 last night of next year's possible mayoral candidates, Republican consultant Jonathan Greenspun took a swipe at likely Democratic contender Anthony Weiner by saying that when Weiner attends parades, “He still has to have some schmuck with a sign saying 'come meet Congressman Weiner.' They don’t know who he is.”

It's not entirely inaccurate as a political statement, but still: it's a good thing Greenspun isn't running for office.
