Glenn Beck Signs Huge New Two-Book Deal With Simon & Schuster

The Media Mob has learned that conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck has just finished signing a huge new two-book deal with Simon & Schuster imprint Threshold Editions. According to a source with knowledge of the deal, the agreement will net Mr. Beck, the host of Headline News' "Glenn Beck," approximately $3 million. The initial print run will be a whopping 750,000 copies.

This past fall, Threshold Editions published Mr. Beck's "An Inconvenient Book," which immediately debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. According to Executive Vice President and Publisher Louise Burke, Threshold Editions has shipped over half a million copies of "An Inconvenient Book," with no returns to date, making it a big hit for the imprint.

Ms. Burke said that Mr. Beck's next book will be a work of fiction, based heavily on the real events of his childhood (including the death of his mother during his teenage years) and will be titled "The Christmas Sweater." The holiday-themed tome is expected to hit the bookshelves in Fall 2008. Throughout the holiday season, Mr. Beck will promote the "Christmas Sweater," while touring the country performing his annual Christmas show.

The book will be edited by Vice President and Senior Editor Mitchell Ivers, who also edited "An Inconvenient Book." George Hiltzik--Mr. Beck's longtime agent--brokered the contract.

"Glenn is very, very thoughtful about his audience and what he does," Ms. Burke told the Media Mob. "We love working with him because he knows exactly what he wants to do. He has a goal in mind and he goes after it. He was the one that told me "An Inconvenient Book" would be number one on the Times list--and he was absolutely right."

Glenn Beck is awesome! I hope his next book is as big as his last one. Go Beck Go.

Cathexis (not verified) says:

It's bad enough that Headline News would give a platform to a knee-jerk Rightwinger such as Mr Beck, but it is inconceivable that any publishing house would deign to do so.

Beck embodies much of what is wrong with this country: The clingimng to ideologies, biases, and ignorances in spite of reality and facts.

EVAN (not verified) says:

AND WHAT ABOUT ALL OF THOSE KNEE JERK LEFT WINGERS THAT CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS give a platform to? Oh yeah, that's right, you have all the facts while people who disagree with you cling to ideologies? You're a cartoon! And slightly fascist.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

this will no doubt add fuel to the fire between Glenn Beck and his "knee-jerk rightwingers" and those leftist political hacks.

Maybe if so much of America was not interested in Glenn's opinions and his logical solutions to America's problems, groups like ABC CBS MSNBC, et al. would be able to understand him.

But since these left wing news organizations can only understand themselves, they will never be able understand what goes on in the REAL AMERICA's, everything between L.A. and New York.

Just wait till "WE THE PEOPLE" finally get tired of having L.A. and New York tell us what America is. That will be the day that the "PEOPLE" will take back this country and put Washington out on it arse!

Keep up the work for the "PEOPLE" Glenn!!!!

what is with you chickenhawk neocons and these drugstore cowpies that you get all moony over?...this guy is King of the friggin' Wienies forcryingoutloud!...all hat and no cattle...just like Hannity, just like O'Reilly, just like Limbaugh...a bunch o' rough, tough creampuffs all of 'em...

Hans_Peters (not verified) says:

3 million, huh?
Add that ontop of the cool 50 million he netted for his renegotiated radio contract, and you just know this guy earnestly means it when he says he's looking out for us little folks.
Make no mistake: Beck's inflated bank account won't stop him from making a mockery of John Edwards for being rich or any other wealthy Democrat for that matter.
Beck is another in a long string of corporate-enabling, faux populist scumbags.

Amerika (not verified) says:

Anyone who reads or watches Glenn Beck is an idiot.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

I just puked. What a dip. Wonder how many of those books were give aways?

kek (not verified) says:

Middle America has already spoken. That's how we ended up with President Numnuts; and it also explains the book sales of Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and the like. Scary stuff.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Glenn Beck is a right-wing loud-mouthed pundit for the masses--CNN's answer to O'reilly. He is to critical thinking and thoughtful discourse what McDonalds is to food, what Britney Spears is to music. He is the dumbing down of America and he's proud of it--as long as it'll get him $3M. When I think about Glenn Beck and right-wing f-tards like that Kevin-Appeaser-Legitimizing-and-Energizing-James (ala know-nothing-sound-byte loser) it makes me sad for our future.

Chris (not verified) says:

Glenn Beck is a war monger, and a muslim hater... he uses fear tactics in order to get his views across...He only invites guests on his show, that absolutely agree with him, or guests too slow to respond back properly...oldest trick in the book...Glenn has no conscience for being fair, or making an arguement without invoking fear from his viewers...I have no respect for this guy, but i do give him credit for finding a way to make more money, than the average reader on his site, will see in 5 life times...

Matt (not verified) says:

Glenn Beck has to be one the worst persons on television. He is a sad excuse for a man and should be thrown into Gitmo!

Snerd Gronk (not verified) says:

For $3M, it must include pictures of his hemorrhoids!

wow. there are actually people who still think this guy is speaking on behalf of them. maybe they are "hard working white" Americans. Let me share one story. I was flipping the channels and since I got so sick that night I just stopped the channel flipping. Guess what. This guys showed up and here is what he said.

Blah, blah, blah.... mindless numbing rants for a few minutes and then he said:
Since oil companies are the ones that are doing good for the society, why not give them boat load of tax breaks to pump more gas instead of punishing them? My jaw just dropped to the floor. To make money one should not be shy about being asshat nor should hesitate to take evil over good. At least Oreilly is hilarious like those Inside Edition clip but this guy sucks a** without being hilarious.

Mr. Gore (not verified) says:

You obviously don't watch, listen to or read Glenn Beck's work. Nor, do you pay attention to grammar, spelling, or facts.

My guess is you were in such a hurry to post this "knee-jerk" comment, that you didn't proof read it or have time to see the irony of such a comment.

Keep your head in the sand; I'm sure it's comfortable in there.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

He's acutely retarded.

antonio (not verified) says:

How this dude ever managed to convince CNN and others that he was nothing other than a right wing rip off of Rush Limbaugh is amazing. Just check out that stupid look on his face... Any way corporate media has certainly watered down the talent level and he is a prime example of mediocrity... Another winy right winger.. Great

Robert Paulson (not verified) says:

Obviously EVAN doesn't fully understand Fascism or he would realize that Beck more closely exemplifies true Fascism along with all of his Hate Radio buddies. They are not even true Republicans. They might as well cal themselves The American Fascist Party. Beck espouses nationalism , corporatism, and Ayn Rands objectivism. You can't get much closer to Fascism than that. 3 million $$$ books deal means only lowest common denominator . I own a book store and I rarely carry anything on the best seller list. My customers don't want that crap. The thrift stores are full of "Best Sellers for $1.00 each.

Glenn Beck is my hero. I will continue to cling bitterly to God, my large family, my SUV to drive them around in, my 44 inch waistline, my values, my education, my GB Insider account, my guns, my home with 72 degree air conditioning, and the right to shoot any intruder that dares enter it, including illegal aliens.

Evan (not verified) says:

Oh yes, I forgot that the left has no ideological blowhards like Olbermann. You liberals are just as bad as the wack job conservatives. For every O'Reilly there is an Olbermann and for every reactionary conservative there is a fascist liberal trying to impose their view of the world on everyone. Both sides are ruining the world in your never ending, name calling pissing contests. Grow up people.

Matt (not verified) says:

Glenn is awesome, and all you haters are liberal pu$$y wimps!
Ha.
I can't wait until Olbermann implodes and goes careening out of control.
Glenn will have so much material to work with when Obama gets elected, I kinda feel like the 2010 elections will be like 1994!

Go Beck, down with Democrat scum, the party of Spritzer and Kennedy.

Glenn your awesome!!!!!!

Love u Glenn.

Indiana Jim (not verified) says:

I would just like to say that you folks adding comments as "Anonymous" are a bunch of gutless wonders. At least Robert Paulson has guts. If that is your REAL name. :)

As always, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Glenn is an ingenious radio producer. His War of the Worlds production was just plain amazing. The parody commercial spots are hilarious, and I can't wait for the Flemlasky vs. Velveeta campaign ads!

There's a reason people like Rush, Hannity, and Glenn are successful: they are on the side of what's real. Air America goes off the air, and Al Franken's books don't get 750,000 copies on first-run. Don't hate just because more Americans believe differently than you.

Glenn makes you think. If you think about it, and disagree, fine. But don't be a... toooooool of the left.

A sick twisted freak (not verified) says:

Congrats Mr.Beck, I listen to you all the time.
He is the true meaning of the "American dream" coming from no-where in Washington state, to one of the top Conservative voices in America.
The American Dream worked for him, just as it did for John Edwards, Mike Huckabee, Stephen King, and any other rich guy that you can come up with today.

CONGRATS MR.BECK, keep up the good work

Mets Girl in PA (not verified) says:

You libs amaze me. Do you READ history books? Or just go by what the media tells you?

Glenn, Rush and O'Reilly are the farthest thing from facism. Telling me where I can smoke, what I can eat and what temperature to keep my house, THAT is facism. Typical libs to brand the right with those oh so subtle words like "racist" "war monger" and "muslim hater". I seem to recall it is you guys who bring up race in this campaign when its not even relevant!

I'm sure if you actually took the time to LISTEN to the right wingers, you'll see they make perfect sense.

Hey, good work on the Stanley tool comment. Glenn had a field day with that one today.

Go Glenn Go! You're still handsome as ever!

Bill from Exton (not verified) says:

That's Great for Glenn. He is hero of mine and a great American because of his support of the troops, his moral values and respect for the constitution. He tells the truth unlike the left's lying village idiots and no ratings Keith Oberman and Chris Matthews.

You are just jealous lefties! Go ahead and vote for Hussien and get the marxism and socialism you want.

From a guy who is clinging to my guns and God.
