Goolsbee Denies Canadian NAFTA Story
I just spoke very briefly to Austan Goolsbee, the Obama campaign economic advisor who CTV has identified as the aide who purportedly suggested to the Canadian government officials that Obama’s harsh rhetoric against NAFTA was less than heartfelt. I asked Goolsbee if any such meeting or call had taken place.
“It is a totally inaccurate story,” he said. “I did not call these people and I direct you to the press office.”
The Obama campaign, and Obama himself, have also said the story isn't accurate, but have mostly avoided specifics about the call itself.
The Clinton campaign, correctly sensing an opportunity to make hay of this in labor-centric Ohio, is apparently unsatisfied with those denials, and will have a conference call on the CTV report at noon.

I hope Jason managed to listen in on that conference call that supposedly started an hour and a half ago. I wonder what is the latest piece of the "kitchen sink" they are going to throw at Obama in their endless campaign of sabotage and disinformation?
If the Clinton camp really aligns themselves with this Canadian Tory hit-job, which I remind you tries to implicate Clinton herself aswell, then she would have reached yet another low.
It wouldn't surprise me if she did though, so expect Hillary to start running with this soon.
An odd denial by Goolsbee. He didn't respond in a way that answered your question of whether they met or even if someone at the consulate had called him. Hard to tell what "totally inaccurate" means in this context, given that yesterday's "inaccurate" apparently referred to the difference between an embassy and a consulate. Moreover, why did he not issue a denial to all the early rporters who had contacted him, such as at ABC and Politico?
Important to emphasize that it was indeed the Tories in Canada (the Conservative Party) who were behind this fraud, aided and abetted by compliant and/or sloppy CTV broadcasts. Canadian Tories uniting with neocons and wing-nuts in the U.S., thanks for showing us who where the true economic threats are coming from. Not from the Democrats, that's for sure.

I don't know how you think "inaccurate" meant the difference between an Embassy and a Consulate, because as far as the Obama camp is concerned, this entire report is utter fiction.
CTV has changed its story a couple times now, going from it being a call to ambassador Wilson to Goolsbee to a consulate....
they never noted the correction.
some pro Hillary blogs like No Quarter are tying to spin this saying its headlines across Canada, 'the top story' when on CTV and the paper they own, the Globe & Mail, have run it. CBC, the Star, the Sun, Global, etc have not touched it.
No, guys. When Canadian TV contacted Goolsbee for a denial--he initially refused. If you watch the tape--they keep saying "Do you deny the meeting took place?" He would not deny it--which is the same as confirming it. Let's see what Georges Rioux has to say--he's the one Goolsbee supposedly spoke to. Anyway, this story came from Ian Brodie, Senior advisor to PM Stephen Harper--so the re-confirmation comes from about as high up as you can get. We shall see.
I heard someone say recently that Obama lies every time he opens his mouth (he has now promised so many conflicting things it's hard to keep track). That's not quite true: He PALGAIRIZES every time he opens his mouth. Every time he releases anything substantive--(the economy, katrina relief) he stole it from Clinton. Not cool.
He tells people in Idaho he's not going to take away their guns--but he's supported gun control for 20 years! Doesn't take money from special interests? What was the $160K from Execlon (the nuclear giant)? A Valentine?
He has the most liberal voting record in the Senate (that is, of course, the 20% of the time he shows up to vote)--and somehow he's going to attract independents and moderates? Well, maybe so far--but NOT WHEN THEY FIND OUT WHO THEY'RE VOTING FOR!
