Morning Memo: Meet Spitzer's Call Girl, Ashley Dupre! And, Michelle Williams Speaks Out About Heath Ledger

via nytimes.com

Even the gossipy bit—Who's That Girl?!?—that all of the tabs were after all day yesterday (us too, in fact) is broken first by The Times: Spitzer's prostitute "Kristen" is in fact known as Ashley Alexandra Dupré, though she was born 22 years ago as Ashley Youmans, in New Jersey. [The New York Times]

Anderson Cooper is shocked at the cost of hookers these days, but the King of All Pimps explains that Dupre was getting $1,000 an hour, so it's kind of a victimless crime. Also, the King of All Pimps thinks Dupre is the "girl next door," and exactly what you would expect for $1,000 an hour. Oh, and "they don't do it for the sex, they do it for the cash." [Gawker.com]

Michelle Williams speaks about Heath Ledger in Interview: "For as long as I'd known him, he had bouts with insomnia. He just had too much energy ... His mind was turning, turning, turning — always turning. He had an uncontrollable energy. He buzzed. He would jump out of bed.” [via PageSix.com]

Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell show up to buck up the spirits of Clay Aiken during his current Broadway stint. [JustJared.com]

What's going on? Here's a picture of Spitzer's hooker and not one comment in NYObserverland.

I was expecting to read comments along these lines, "Worth every dollar" or, "$4300 for that. Spitzer was screwed."

I may be a gay male, but I think Gloria Steinem is much more attractive than this hooker/singer. I wonder how Ms. Dupre defines herself: A hooker who sings, or a singer who's a hooker.

I heard Ms. Dupre's singing voice this morning on a TV morning program. Ms. Dupre, please don't sing while you're having sex with a "john." If you do, don't expect a $4300 paycheck. Maybe $300 if you're lucky.

i have sons, but if I had daughters, I'd tell them to stop wasting their time studying math and science. I'd urge them to study hooking, service a rich married man, and then get "caught" like Monica Lewinsky. Why bother with a respectable
living...that's alot of work! That is the
message we are giving our youth. Americans are no longer the
Nobel Prize winners of the world. We've de-evolved into hookers, minimum wage workers, and rent-a-cops for the
Saudis. and our Prez is one of THEM

HARRISBURG, Pa. --
Pimp Gets Plea Deal In Sex Case
Hartford Courant - Mar 15 1:59 AMA New York man accused of kidnapping young women and girls — including a 12-year old — and forcing them to perform sex acts on street corners, at private parties and in seedy barrooms, agreed to a plea deal with federal prosecutors in Connecticut that will send him to prison for nearly 25 years.

Attorney Don D. Buchwald, Esq. is now Ms. Ashley Alexandra
Dupré lawyer to facilitate the promotion of
prostitution in federal court.

THEIR PRESS RELEASE:
We represent Ms. Ashley Alexandra Dupré.
Ex-Governor Spitzer is a public figure. Ms. Ashley Dupré is not. She was thrust into the public glare at age 22 without her consent.
While the circumstances surrounding Governor Spitzer’s resignation are newsworthy, some publications, in violation of journalistic norms, have used the occasion of Governor Spitzer’s political misfortunes as an excuse to exploit Ms. Dupré’s persona for commercial purposes by, among other things, displaying a montage of suggestive photographs of Ms. Dupré that has nothing to do with the Spitzer story. Ms. Dupré has not consented to the use of her photos in this manner, and it appears that certain of those photos were obtained in violation of Ms. Dupré’s privacy rights and federal copyright law. It has also come to our attention that Ms. Dupré’s picture and persona have been used on commercial websites without her permission.
The unauthorized usages of Ms. Dupré’s pictures, voice, name, and likeness in this manner may well constitute violations of federal copyright laws, § 43(a) of the Lanham Act, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the New York Civil Rights Law § 51 and other federal and state statutes concerning privacy rights. In view of what happened, we feel constrained to put the media on notice that as counsel for Ms. Dupré we will take all steps that we deem necessary or appropriate to protect Ms. Dupré from any unwarranted exploitation of her name, picture, voice or likeness for purposes of profit.

Not condoning what happened but, the blame should be on the shoulders of Elliot Spitzer, the governor. For one, he was married, a former law enforcement official who locked up prostitutes and pimps yet, was using the very same service he was cracking down on. What I don't understand is why the young lady is being blamed by practically everyone while, the governor takes a slap on the wrist? People's values are twisted which is what is wrong with society these days. We give politicians a "free" pass everytime they commit a crime. Remember Bill Clinton? It is okay, he just cheated on his wife. Just say marriage is for the dogs.

Not surprised - in every society there are those who fall through the cracks;

Unfortunately in this family - the family fell apart - and under poor guidance - the children found the illegal path;

It is interesting how a highly powerful man crosses path with a young woman with many dreams and many potential obstacles- it is said that she has a number of tattoo to help her remind herself to stay away from drugs.

She is currently being use and it is trying her best to capitalize on this 15 minutes of fame. But as we have seen before - the next 15 minutest of fame - may be quite different. It is so hard to go from rags to riches - specially under this circumstances.

she may have some good lucks - but she is not that hot; in the context of other women in the city - she gets a five out of ten.

Marco Rincones (not verified) says:

How long will it be before other escorts who serviced Eliot Spitzer will come out of the woodwork? Certainly, there must be quite a few of them and at least a couple who will see the fame and quick extra $$$ that Ms. Dupre will make from being the 'it' girl for a for weeks. I would expect that if they are ready to move on from the "oldest profession" that one would be ready and willing to recount their past and maybe "out" a few of their more famous "Johns".
