MSNBC's David Shuster to Apologize to the Clintons
According to Howard Kurtz, MSNBC's David Shuster will be issuing an on-air apology this evening at 6 p.m. on Tucker, for comments he made yesterday about Chelsea Clinton's role campaigning for her mother.
"Doesn't it seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?" he asked (watch the segment above).
Yikes.
"The comment was completely inappropriate, and we have called the Clinton campaign to apologize," MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines said today, according to the Washington Post.

I would think that since Tucker's car project didn't go so well, that perhaps he's a little miffed at being overrun by GM and Ford who the convential wisdom says has ALL the CLintons in their pockets. Jeff Bridges did an admiral job in the original role, and Coppola's directing was up to snuff too. No apologies necessary from MSNBC or Tucker as it was just lashing out, and a fine car AND film with unfortunate box office takings and a few too many recalls.
As a Paul supporter let me say that I knew it would be just a matter of time before David put his foot where it did not belong!
I feel he owes Dr. Paul and his supporters an apology also. If he does not offer an apology then let me say I will not be watching MS NBC anymore.
In short, it could not of happen to a nicer gentlemen.
Now if I were not a Ron Paul supporter I would have placed my words a little differently but out of respect for Dr. Paul I choose to be polite.
David, Enjoy your vacation because we all know you do not have the ability to think so no hard feelings.
David Shuster don't deserve to be on a national TV. Is he pimping out his Mother and Sister? MSNBC should fire him now. Saying sorry would not help, He should pimp him self now.
Oh, the horror! That's just terrible.
Tar and feather the man.
Get some perspective people. Lighten up. Poor choice of words but geez.
This will be forgotten in a few days, David.
He asked the QUESTION wondering if it looked like pimping in 'some weird sort of way'-Not quite the same as what's being repeated all over the place. If you're going to say what someone said that got them suspended-At least get it right!
It's a shame Shuster used such a verb but lots of media people have used a lot worse & mischaracterizing words-Get over it! Shuster is one of the BEST reporters out there-I always look(ed) forward to his segments because his superior analytic ability typically would shine through. He's not the parrot so many of these reporters and hosts are and I hope to see him back on the air ASAP.
Have you never said a word about someone you wish you could take back? Shuster is right on 99% of the time. So he's human-get over it and appreciate the superior product he offers-it would be a loss to not have his political analysis on this race while we're right in the thick of it.
As for those talking of going elewhere for their 'news,' be careful- Those who think they'll get better from Fox will only be more misinformed-so if you want your opinions to lose some credibility, or to look a bit more foolish when espousing your views, go ahead and watch the laughing stock of corporate media news. People will only shake their head at you once they realize it's not worth discussing things with someone so misinformed.
If Chelsea sees fit to have lunch with an 18-year old "superdelegate" in an effort to get her mother the nomination, then perhaps she is being "pimped" out. The children of the candidates, once they get out on the trail become persons who can be coomented on by the press or anyone else for that matter. Shuster made a comment in the vernacular that current society understndas. While the Clintons are sensitive to sexual innuendo ("I did not have sex with that woman") they need to get over themselves and focus on the issues. Shuster does not need to apologize.
I am pretty sure that David would not like that to be said about his daughter if he has one, whom he tried to raise to the best of his ability? There is too much disrespect for women. If women lives their lives in a disgraceful manner, then they set themselves for what they get, but women who are trying to be role models and an example to society should be more respected, whether their parents are in the lime light, or not. There are many women, especially young ladies who are trying to live their lives in a moral way so that they can be an example to other, who don't have a moral father or mother. Lets build them up and not drag them through the mud. Words hurts and I learn this growing up that "words are powerful and once said, you cannot take them back, because it has already cause the damage that was intended". If children grow up hearing all negative word from parents, and relatives what can we expect from these children? That's why a lot of our young people in our society is so angry because that's what they hear all their lives, only negative stuff, not only from relatives but society also. Then we wonder why our young people does thing to people who didn't even hurt them; they are angry. We are so busy putting them down, that we are not seeing the hurt and pain they are going through. Hurt and pain has no gender and words spoken cannot be unspoken even if the person apologize, so let me careful of our "freedom of speech" parents and society because this may be the root of our problems. Each person takes negative words different; therefore we never know which one is going to flip, because they won't tell us. If we can’t give words of encouragement and show a little love, let's just keep our "freedom of speech" to ourselves and not get our foot stuck in our mouth. Everyone that has a negative word to say to someone, just take one hurting person and use that energy to help them and we will have a much safer society.
