The Providers' Choice Program offered through (ACS) was funded $1.2 Million. This program is in its infancy, and the significant funding certainly represents a victory for the UFT/ACORN which successfully fought for collective bargaining rights for the day care providers last year.
Sadly, a lot of the providers were either a) never reimbursed for expenses, or b) didn't have the money to cover the purchases (reimbursement was dished out in future pay-checks). Maybe ACS can use the funds to solve some of these problems.

The budget deeply cuts a lot of worthwhile social service programs across the City. How is it possible that Felder, DeBlasio & Yassky put in for $200,000 for a brand new group in Williamsburg called UJCare?? The group is run by Leib Glantz who was tossed out by the Satmar community for his inappropriate stewardship of their schools. Besides, the Satmars of Williamsburg have a respected group called United Jewish Organizations. Turns out that UJCares is an attempt by the Kiryat Joel, Orange Country Satmars who follow Rabbi Aron Teitelbaum to challenge his brother Rabbi Zalmen Teitelbaum for leadership by invading Williamsburg. Rumor has they have put together a $1 million PAC and probably have given heavily to these 3 Councilmembers.
When will Weprin ever learn. His name is tied to every Jewish organization in the City. What happened to allocating money in his own district. Why should he get all this extra money because of some phony bologna Finance Chairman position. Its all to help himself look good. Look at this article about Trinity Senior Center and ask why weprin picks that group to give money too? Maybe because she's a District Leader. Forget it Wep, even if you gave away 10 million to your friends it wouldn't help you win. You are the biggest loser...goodbye

Istitute for Puerto Rican Elderly is big winner in this budget. Everyone else lost money they got bonuses from leadership and even from folks like Addabbo and Sanders.
Check out the numbers...look at their lack of programs and services...wake up...

Azi: I know this may be a small issue, or big , depending on how you look at it, but Mr. Recchia gave $15,000 to the Kings Highway Beautification Association whose Chair is none other than Mr. Joe Sitt of Thor Equities. I guess it's I scratch your back you scratch my back. Also Mr. Recchia gave $270,000 to the Sephardic Community Center of which Joe Sitt's relatives are on the Board. They redline people of color from joining the Health Club or Summer Camps. This is taxpayers monies.The center should be open toall not just the few. Another scandal in the works. Also I found out that Mr. Anthony Weiner returned 2 checks from his Congressional Funds , to 2 Board member of the Sephardic Angel Fund. A mr. Chehebar & Mr. Tawil ( I think his wife is on the board) How Come? Mr. Weiner earmarked money for that group as well as Congressman Nadler. It looks like a trifecta of some sorts. It's all B#ll Sh@t. It looks like the press doesn't care either.

This year's Schedule C is so much more transparent than in years past. The name of the requesting councilmember is given, and almost all of the fishy organizations I've noticed in previous years are no longer receiving money. That being said, the Vito Lopez-connected Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council is getting about $800K in various grants. (The majority of Reyna's discretionary money went to them). To be fair, they are a legitimate charity, so it is possible that all the grants are completely kosher. This is again a far cry from a couple years ago, when Lopez's political organization, Brooklyn Unidos, received tens of thousands of dollars to throw a picnic.
It's outrageous that Willie Wrapfogel makes $500,000 plus a year from government funds. Somebody should publish a list of the top publicly funded CEO's. I'm sure Wrapfogel is the # 1 paid non-profit CEO with PUBLIC FUNDS in America!
Brooklynite: You are a white Catholic, not a person of color. How many Latinos or Blacks have you've seen at the Sephardic Community Center or Summer Camps. The answer is zero. If they get taxpayers monies it should be open to all , not just to all faiths but to all races too! I rest my case.

You are mixing up Rabbi Glanz with Rabbi Zalmen Teitelbaum, Rabbi Zalmen Teitelbaum and his cronies were the guys who were behind the Allou scheme and downfall, thousands of shareholders were defrauded by these crooks.

The Sephardics Jews originally came from Spain (Europe). They are Caucasian (white), by any stretch of the imagination. When you fill out an application of any kind that asks for your race, how do you check it off....Black( Afro-American,) Hispanic, Native American or Caucasian(white) ? So you can't B%ll Sh*t anybody. I've been around for awhile. Look it up pal. You might educate yourself.
Actually Sepharidc Jews are a racial and religious minority. Many of them have darker skin colors. Yes, many of them originally came from Spain but that was thousands of years ago. Many of the current Sephardic Jews come from Mexico, Egypt, etc. So you are, indeed, mistaken.

I'm African-American Moslem and a member of the Sephardic Center. Yes, most of the members are Jewish, but when I lived in central Brooklyn most of my YMCA's member's were black. I live alone and have made many friends at the Sephardic Center. These Sephardics are really great people!
After going to the Sephardic Community Center website & looking at all the programs that they offer, I DID NOT see any pictures of African-Americans or Latinos. What's up with that ? I would think you would see at least one or two pictures other than white kids & white adults. Who's fooling who here? It doesn't seem that they have a membership that is a mosaic of what the real world looks like.
In addition, I didn't notice any pictures of any Asian children too!

UJCARE since they're open (maybe a few month) 1000's of 1000's got already from them goverment help, food (they had already 2 food distributions) , ideas & more.
I don't wanna knock on UJO but I think they're already open for 30 yrs but how many ppl got served from them??? what did they do for the residents they're officially representing? housing? lower rent? anything???

btw Rabbi Leib Glanz was only throwin out from UTA 82 Lee ave. Corp. just cuz of private issues! had nothing to do with allue! the now active board members of UTA 82 r the criminals!
Rabbi Glanz is a famous Leader & champlain for the jewish communnity all over NY. (just got Champlain in the Green County) is the best move to have him as the Vice President of UJCARE!
