A Verb Michael Bloomberg Doesn't Like

Here's the mayor, during a City Hall press conference about a new way of processing juvenile court cases, taking issue with Newsday reporter Michael Frazier's use of the word "maintain" in a question about the Sean Bell case.

did you ask Frazier what he intended to ask Bloomberg before he was cut off?

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Obviously the Mayor MAINTAINS that his administration doesn't give a crap about the civil and human rights of people of color in this City.

Bloomberg is such a dick!

Esin Emko (not verified) says:

The Mayor is correct. Maintain does have implications and the question was boorish. Race relations and police activity have been better in this city since Bloomberg took over from Guiliani. Certainly that's evident. Give Bloomberg a break for his progressive views and helpful actions.

So Esin Emko, the press should only ask questions the Mayor's pr person agrees will show him in the proper light. And this is a "progressive" idea????

wow. i had no idea bloomberg was such a wordsmith. he's indeed right about the implications although i think the reporter was simply using the word wrong and not calling Bmbrg a liar. He should have answered the question instead of getting high and mighty about it like an 8th grade grammar teacher.
