Sheekey Declines to Discuss Silver Again
At the mayor's appearance in Bay Ridge with John McCain, I saw Kevin Sheekey, the deputy mayor who recently went on NY1 to blast Sheldon Silver for not bringing congestion pricing to the Assembly floor for a vote.
In that interview, Sheekey said Albany demonstrated a lack of "courage." His boss and the New York Times editorial board later picked up the same theme.
At the event today, I asked Sheekey if he had any additional thoughts on Silver or Albany.
"I've said my piece," he told me.

Reading the Daily News, Crains, NY Mag Daily Intelligencer and of course the ivory tower Times editorial writers would indicate that City employees (taxpayer paid) like Mr. Sheeky are engaged in a "scorched earth" attempt to destory Speaker Silver. This comes after the Mayor himself said last week that "Speaker Silver has given the City 99% of what we asked for..." Where is the outrage by those editorial writers about wasting city resources on revenge?
Why is there no call for City Comptroller audits and Dept of Investigation, US Attorney and so on reviews of the time sheets of those employees engaged in this blatant political effort (and others)? Is it possible that fellow billionaires Sulzberger, Zuckerman and Murdoch will not let their reporters and editorial writers really go after their pal, Mayor Mike?
All the City Councilmembers and State Legislators who have been threatened by Sheeky and Company or bribed with budget and other goodies (some claim to have been offered jobs) should be subpoenaed and either put this issue to rest or follow it where it leads.
