Tucker Carlson on Cancellation: 'I'm Not Going to Whine About It'

Today, NBC News officials announced that as of next Monday, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory will be replacing anchor Tucker Carlson at 6 P.M. on MSNBC.
How was Mr. Carlson taking the cancellation of Tucker?
On Monday afternoon, the Media Mob caught up briefly with Mr. Carlson.
"I'm not going to whine about it," said Mr. Carlson. "They've been nice to me."
Mr. Carlson said he was "glad" to stay on with MSNBC as a senior campaign correspondent.
He said he wasn't surprised by the cancellation of his show and noted that his conservative viewpoints didn't seem to jibe with the current direction of the channel's evening lineup.
"I think it's been clear for a year or so that I don't really fit into the primetime lineup," he said. "You know, which of these things is not like the other? That's a problem I've understood for a long time. There's nothing I can do about it. You got to be who you are, even if who you are is not where the network is. I'm not surprised at all. And I'm not mad about it."
"There's all kind of interesting stuff happening in the world," he added. "As long as I get to cover the campaign I'll be happy."
And after that?
"When it's all over I'll probably go into commercial real estate like everyone else," said Mr. Carlson. "I don't even know what commercial real estate is, but I noticed that everyone in it does pretty well."

What a surprise! The one non-liberal voice on NBC gets canned. Who woulda thunk it? Thank goodness NBC is run by and for those open-minded liberals who are... ahem... always willing to hear other opinions, unlike those close-minded conservatives. My advice is, forget NBC and watch FOX. Say what you will about FOX, but they have both liberals and conservatives on their shows, and they treat their liberal commentators and guests with respect. NBC and its clones generally only have conservatives on if they can ambush them.
Tucker can make plenty of dough off his old CIA connexions.
NBC and MSNBC is supposed to be liberal? Yeah... sure.
They're owned by GE, major war contractor and nuclear bomb-maker.
Yeah, it's because he is not a liberal, not because he is obnoxious, and often wrong. Keith Olbermann has been nice and has not pointed it out on his show. Joe Scarborough will be surprised to find out he is a liberal. So yeah, go watch FAUX NEWS, they are such a real news station. I don't think anyone really is expecting to get world news from any of them. It's like we are not even engaged in a war. FAUX NEWS loves to tell us we need to be there but we never see anything that looks like a war. Same with MSNBC, CNN. Just let Brittney take her panties off and that's news for a week. A man with power sleeps with a hooker, good for a couple of weeks. House fire, flood, whatever. Just don't show any flag drapped caskets, almost 4,000 now. Anyway, in the scheme of things, who cares about Tucker. He has been fired so many times but he still doesn't think it's HIM, it's US.AND he is gonna whine, trust me.
Mssr LeMay and others have the delusion that CFR member GE and ALL the networks, and most all other major corps in America's corporatocracy, are they that bankroll the politicians they need for their profits and run the govt from above like Joseph P Kennedy said (and who killed his boy too for shying away from Nam and ergo their profits) that -
"fifty men run the country, and that's a high figure".
Of course myself, now at 55yo who in disgust with BOTH parties, has spent the last 3-4 years actually learning what our govt, media and academe least want us understand about America. About individual freedom, neutrality the founders recommended, honesty, the dangers of concentrated power, and our history and economics, was instead actually taught pretty much the exact reverse of the truth by govt & it's paid court historians and beneficiaries.
I'll just bet you people have actually read the Declaration & Constitution and are therefore right up there w/those of rare genius the likes that Leno questions on the street!
Rockefeller Rep and Morgan Dems took the govt, media and academe over 100 years ago - thats who runs the country - most all we see on the tube or in print is corporate propaganda. All together now, find sand, insert head.
Chris Matthews- a liberal? HARDBALL anchors the evening at MSNBC.
People here to calm down. ALL mainstream news is for ratings as they are no longer beholden to the "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" we used to have... back when a station, in order to keep it's FCC license, had to broadcast news that usually LOST money.
If we still had the "Fourth Estate", we would not be in Iraq. The media, despite ANY bias, is ALWAYS TO QUESTION AUTHORITY... no matter which party is in power.
That is long gone.
And yes, one part does make out better when corporate media interests are never questioned.

Tucker was the best show on MSNBC by far. I will miss it. If you feel as I do I encourage you to e-mail MSNBC and letthem know about it like I did. Here's what I wrote...
New prime time lineup.
Here are my major problems with the changes in order.
1. Tucker has been cancelled. It was by my favorite program on your network by far.
2. A second annoying hour of Keith Olberman. 1 hour is more than enough. He makes me instantly change the channel. During his program is the ONLY time (with 2 exceptions.) I watch FOX.
3. Dan Abrams. Period. Why does this guy have his own show. Is his Dad in charge of MSNBC programming? A true waste of air time and the only time, other than during MSNBC's "canned" programming that runs on weekend, and during Olberpuke's "program" that I watch FOX.
If I programmed MSNBC (and let's face it, could you have less viewers anyway?) I would not only continue Tucker but add a 2nd live hour of his show to replace the Abrams disaster and instead of a second hour of Olberman, place David Gregory's new show there.
And while I'm at it could you please save of from Susan Fineland? She is an idiot and adds nothing to the discussion!
Don
A Tucker fan from Wisconsin.
I WILL TRULY MISS YOU, TUCKER. I WATCHED YOU EVERY EVENING RELIGIOUSLY AT 6:00 P.M. I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO HEAR YOU GOT CANCELLED! GOD BLESS YOU, TUCKER!! WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, GOD WILL OPEN ANOTHER. YOU'LL DO FINE IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE (SMILE) OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO!!
Tucker became to be my favorite show. You could watch Tucker and get all the news stories straight from watching him. His analysis is very straight-forward. And I appreciated his intelligent humor. Even guests who shared opposing viewpoints respected him. Everyone on the show appeared to have great respect for Tucker.
He was both fair and reasonable with his guests, always allowing them to speak, and without interruption, as also noted by one of his regular guests who shares opposite viewpoints from him.
I am sincerely going to miss Tucker. I taped the show everyday and told many to watch it. He's great. Intelligent commentary and fair. Yes, I hope FOX will pick him up as a host.
(I just hope my second favorite show, the Cobert Repor', remains on Comedy Central).
Good luck Tucker! Come back soon!
Tucker was one of the only people on that network who actually gave the news without bias. Even when he gave his opinion it was always honest and independent, even if not popular. I'm guessing he's been taking away from the Obama love-fest lately. MSNBC is doing a great job of becoming the liberal version on Fox News.
It may be a good time for another break-out network. One that actually reports reality. Maybe some international news...whats going on in Paris, France instead of Paris Hilton. I'm sure they'd get some pretty good ratings from people in this country who are waiting for the one recently un-tapped market of real news.
I too will miss Tucker Carlson. I'm about as liberal as you can get and LOVE Keith Olberman and also Chris Matthews. But Tucker was just kind of fun to watch. He always seemed to be polite to his guests at the same time he made sure he got his opinion across. Actually, I didn't like him at all on Crossfire, but really enjoyed him on MSNBC. And he's nice to look at also!
Good riddance. It's about time. He should get a
job at Fox. That's where he belongs.I wonder why they let him stay so long.
DO NOT watch FOX!! You will hear nothing but lies!!
Thank God he's finally gone. Not rude? I've seen him be rude to lots of people, especially Democrats. It's way past time for him to leave. He needs to go over to Fixed News if they'll have him.
First let me say that Fox is the most racist station by far they suck! Maybe Tucker can get a job there with the rest of the bed sheet wearers. That station is completly biased toward anything different than what is inside of there gated commmunities. There are so many double standards out there mostly driven by the media. There is alot of power in it.It changes peoples views if stories are approached in a non fair biased perspective from the start. He never said one good thing about Barack Obama once. But gave kudos to the other candidates running and pleasantness and respect to only Mccain and Clinton.I'm glad to see him Go.maybe he go and be hateful somewhere else. The way he views the world is what keeps unwanted divisions in this country that we need to move beyond,it's been time for that to happen. In Iraq our soldiers women, men, black and white are looked at as Americans. But at home we are demeaning to Woman and Blacks on too many levels to count. When we are all Americans we as a country in the 21st century we should really be ashamed about our lack of understanding, respect and knowledge of one another as a nation called the "United States" but in fact we have always been divided how can he help anyone unite ask your self that with seperatists like Tucker who support those biased traditional views.Peace and God Bless the "United States of America."
Ratings is the name of the game and FNC is clearly the leader, so I'm not surprised.
Jeneane, you have no idea what you're talking about. Joe Scarborough was republican congressman who is on a prime time spot for MSNBC. Probably best you shut your mouth before you make yourself and other conservatives (like myself) look foolish again.
Tucker Carlson's show was ruined the minute that MSNBC took him off the 11 P.M. slot. At the time it seemed that MSNBC was serious in providing live news at least through midnight. Unfortunately, they have decided to become the "LOCKUP" station.
Still my favorite cable news station though.
As a typical raging liberal, I admit I will still miss Tucker deeply. For one thing, I like Libertarians more than Republicans.
Libertarians will go ahead and take the hard parts that come with their philosophy, whereas Republicans and, yes, even Democrats, can't ever take a hit for what they believe. So, for instance, Tucker believed the government should stay out of our bedrooms and out of our medicine chest, so to speak. Now he was a person who may not personally have approved of particular lifestyles, but nonetheless, he took the line consistent with his belief in personal freedoms.
Whereas Republicans are all for personal freedom when it comes to their own money and their own guns, but the suddenly are very interventionist against any lifestyle that they happen to dislike. In short, Republicans will never take a hit for what they believe in. Libertarian is just another name for Real Republican who doesn't flinch when the carrying through of an idea hurts.
Our current so-called Republicanism is a way of saying, "I like the constitution all the way, except when it favors people I don't like."
Tucker stayed true the whole time to what he loved, and for that I will always respect him, and if indeed we are to see less of him, it makes me quite sad.
Again, it must be restated that I am a very-big-government liberal who shares almost none of Tucker's beliefs, but he was funny and charming because he just was himself. God bless you Tucker, and that comes from a godless Socialist. We love you.
Truly,
Mel C. Thompson
Good Riddance to that little twit!
jeneane is an embarassment to conservatives.
Poor Tucker!! I always hate it when a gay basher is brought down.
I guess now that both CNN and MSNBC have got rid of him, perhaps it's now time for FNN. If not, he can read the news at LOGO.
Tucker is one of the disturbing breed that has developed in cable news....that being the "Punkery." He was an original, but is a piker compared to the likes of O'Reilly and Matthews...."Daddy Punks". Hannity and Abrams are two peas in a pod, but from different ends of the spectrum. Each has NO original ideas. Hannity basically shouts down and insults people, while Abrams is a typical vacuous liberal who hasn't got a clue about much. A Bill Maher clone, which is useless. Clever maybe, but no serious intellect in either of them. And Olberman? Well he is laughable. Takes himself SOOOO seriously and he is, well, an idiot. A liberal yes, but one can be a liberal and not be an idiot. Alan Colmes being the best example. I wish the "Punkery" would learn to espouse ideas and principle, instead of despising people. Sean Hannity is a Rushwannabe, who except for Rush's good nature, would probably get sued for plagarism.
Wait a minute here, Keith Olberman is "nice"? Give me a break, he is an idiot, and O'Reilly is killing him on the Fox "The Factor".. And poor Chris Matthews, he has slipped quite a bit just this year. Time to roll over and get some new blood, such as Tucker Carlson. A breath of fresh air, frankly. Hopefully, Fox will find a slot for Tucker.
How could you take of Tucker? Why not rename msnbc the Liberal Channel? Instead we have 3 hours of Chris Matthews?? (a rude loud mouth) and 2 hours of Keith Oberman?? (the man who loves the sound of his own voice!) Tucker was the only man on your channel with any manners at all, and at least let someone speak. I never missed the Tucker Show and now see NO reason to even turn to msnbc. You made a big mistake!!
WELL WHAT A CROCK!!I LOVE TUCKER AN HIS WIT I'M NOT EVEN THE SAME POLITICS BUT I ENJOYED HIS VIEWS!I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO GO BACK TO CNN UNTIL TUCKER GETS ANOTHER SHOW WHICH I'M SURE WON'T BE LONG!THANKS TUCKER FOR ALL THE HOURS OF FUN!CIAO ROSETTE
