Vallone Says Bloomberg is Raising Taxes

This morning, the Water Board voted to raise water rates. This afternoon, the City Council held a hearing about proposed cuts to higher education.

In this clip, Peter Vallone, Jr., speaking at the hearing, connects the two.

UPDATE: Bloomberg spokesman John Gallagher responds: "Essential city services cost money and the rate hike will cover rental payments to the City from the DEP for delivering the best municipal water in the nation to millions of customers. The Board is required to set water rates at a level sufficient to cover its obligations, and today the Board did the responsible thing by voting to approve a rate increase that does just that."
