I agree on Springstein's "Seeger Session" but have some nuggets to share.
I did not purchase a whole lot of CDs in '06 but these really standout:
* "Nassau Coliseum Live" -
Allman Brothers Band.
A great example of the post Duane Allmans with Chuck Leavell (who toils with the Stones of late) adding some great keys. And to relive a really great concert attended in my teens.
*"Heartbeat of Love" -
Richie Furay.
Steve Stills, Neil Young, Kenny Loggins, Paul Cotton, Rusty Young and more help this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (Buffalo Springfield) deliver an outstanding. The Title song, remakes of Kind Woman and Let's Dance that take each to a higher level (Dance was always was a much greater song live than 1973 studio version on Poco's "Crazy Eyes."). I saw Richie live last summer at The Turning Point up in Piermont and his performance of songs from his Springfield, Poco, SHF and 70s solo era material and this brand new (secular) material after some 18 years demonstrates why Richie my part of my fave troika of singer-songwriter-performers with John Fogerty and Paul Rogers. HOL is a fixture on my car CD player.
Two CDs I should've bought last year and will soon include Poco's Wildwood sessions and John Fogerty's Long Road Home Live CD/DVD. Better than Creedence and I loved that Band growing up in Glen Oaks.
