Norman Siegel's letter - as you quote it - does not sound over the top at all. What does appear to be over the top is the obscene amount of money that one has to raise to run and win a citywide campaign.
As to the comment about having a committee registered with the board, is it possible that the board is not completely up to date with its postings? Is there a lag time? Because it is inconceivable that an attorney of his stature would start raising funds for a citywide campaign without having a registered committee. Has anyone asked him directly?
