As always, Schuerman is one of the worst reporters on the scene. Remember, he's the one who tried to defend Baruch Singer, one of the city's worst documented landlords.

If Schuerman knew what was going on with the LDC, he would know it was an effort by Scott Stringer, Robert Jackson, Rangel and other pols to undermine the community (not just CPC). Even Community Board members knows this (although some are unwilling to say so publicly). The LDC is chock-full of politician proxies (usually hacks in their offices). It's no surprise that these politicians go out of their way to squeeze community members out of the process.

If Schuerman was honest, he would up-front identify Jesse Masyr as a partner with Wachtel & Masyr, the Related Co. (and Steve Ross) main shills for overdevelopment.

From the beginning, community members knew the LDC was nothing more than a shill for politicians to take control of the process and find a way to give Columbia what they wanted.

The problem with CBA is that they merely set a price for selling-out. They do nothing to deal with impact, mitigation or even good planning. It's institutional selling-out.

Oh, and perhaps Schuerman should -- at a minimum -- cite that Jesse Masyr has Quinn and others in City Council completely bought -- courtesy of Steve Ross -- with huge campaign contributions (and I haven't even looked at what Stringer or Jackson are pocketing from these people).

So when they get to City Council, the charade will be as ostentatious as these things can get.
