Go and look at the wall before you prescribe its future. The inner lightwell is beautifully detailed, with serene proportions, patterned brickwork, and ornamental terracotta. The bottom line is that McKim Mead & White could do a back wall better than all but a handful of living architects can do a facade. And even if this were not the case, turning one side of the train hall into an advertisement for a bankrupt sports arena is nothing but 1963 dejavu all over again.
