I love the Chelsea Hotel....having stayed there in the 60s and was part of the rock scene....but more than that the magnificent place allowed us to be who we were....rockers, flower people, bikers, drag queens, and anyone else who wandered in were always welcome and greeted by "Max" The elevators were delightfully creaky and looking up or down through the unusual stairway was so avante`guard. There was always something going on there. I met Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, soooo many and too numerous to recall. It was my home away from home and I miss it terrible. I play to visit it again sometime soon. Since I live in NJ its gonna take some doing with prices how they are now....back them a room only cost $10 a night...so I usually stayed several days. Wish I had a time machine so I could go back. And when my time on earth is through I hope I join my departed friends in that "Great Gig IN The Sky.....
