Next Stop, Sunnyside?
Eric Gioia will be courting the next generation of celebrity later this month. On April 27th Gioia will be feted by Donald Trump Jr., Justin Rockefeller, Spitzer-supporter Sara Weinstein, and almost first daughter Karenna Gore Schiff at Union Square's Spy Club in celebration of his birthday. The host committee also includes politicos Leecia Eve, Gifford Miller and Dirk McCall.
It sounds like Gioia's embracing the ideals (and cash) of Generation Engage, a non-profit co-founded by the young Rockefeller, and self-described as "a non-partisan effort aimed at raising the political profile of young adults."
For as little as $10 you too can mingle with these so-called next generation leaders and find out how often they day trip in Sunnyside.

Who CARES?
This is VERY cool!
Eric never stops self promoting, and this is just another example. I would, however, spend $10 to mingle with Dirk.

i'll be there because i have to. but at least gioia's events have no shortage of attractive people under 40. rare at these events. shallow? yeah, but it sure beats eating yet another bad fingerfood with some smelly-breathed branch manager from whitestone.
Gioia for (fill-in the blank) in 09. This is just the beginning.
Awesome idea, sounds like a good party. And only 10 bucks? Nice to see someone trying to attract new faces (re not the same angry 25 people who check this blog) into politics

GREAT IDEA! Finally, a cool political party to go to.
This is the second time Eric has done this, and, yes, the crowd was younger and more attractive than most such events, including Dirk (who incorrectly thinks he is neither young nor attractive).
agreed on the pretty people comment. and 10 bucks is so cheap for drinks with the movers and shakers set. i'm definitely in.
Has Gifford Miller's marquee value shrunk so much that he is now listed at the end of the list, behind Eric Gioia staffers?

This is such a great idea! I really want to go! It will be so fun! They'll be pretty people!!
Gioia stop posting.
gioia's doing great work AND having cool parties. obviously, the haters can't deal.
There is so little joy in politics. Glad someone is out there showing that there is a way for every day people to get involved, have fun, and and do good. Good job GIOIA!
I'd happily give 10 x $10 to support a good cause, and this counts. Gioia has built up a stellar reputation, and I've been very impressed in all my dealings with him.
1:50 it looks like list is in alphabetical order.... and it looks like this is going to be a good party. Good for Gioia.
I would love to have one of the posters explain how it is "doing good" to give Erioc Gioia money ? Doing good is helping poor people, helping sick people, loving your neighbor. Not giving a politician a campaign contribution.
does any staffer in sunnyside have anything to do besides post to the Politicker?
on such a non-issue, no less.
Crack that whip!
don't you have some fund raiser mailings to do on city time, or something?
and seriously...you guys need to get out more if this is your idea of "REALLY FUN!"
how much money does gioia need?
why is this on the politicker? there is nothing remotely interesting about this.
Gioia's birthday is NOT a national holiday... or even a local one. Never will be. get over yourselves.
This blog has become such a joke. Why even come here if you can't post the truth about Gioia the leaker.
who thinks it's smart for Mr. 'For the people, by the people' to align himself with Trump and co? (even if it IS jr...all he is is a name)
good luck selling that as the "watchdog and ombutsman" of the city-elect speech
Don't worry. If it doens't work out, I think you'd fit right in on the Apprentice.
2:22pm, supporting the kind of leaders we want in elected office is how we get the kind of government we want - and that IS doing good.
Eric Gioia is a really good guy. He is young, energetic, has vision and ideas, and is just what this city needs. No doubt that Gioia has a bright future.
not really sure why someone has an axe to grind against gioia. in my encounters with him, i've come away really impressed. i think he's the real deal, someone who can get people to believe in the promise of public service.
