State Staffing Change

Michael Fragin just sent out an e-mail informing colleagues that Wednesday will be his last day working in the Governor's office, as he is taking a job as the Vice President of Strategic Planning at the Battery Park Authority. Mr. Fragin confirmed the move and emphasized that he is "still part of the Pataki orbit." He also said that the move has nothing to do with the demonstrations in Borough Park or Jonathan Greenspun's moving on as liaison to the Jewish community for the Bloomberg administration. -- Jason Horowitz

What exactly is the Battery Park Authority? Probably just another random $150K/year position. Good for him. And Margarita Lopez. And Brian Ellner.

who is pataki's new jew? maybe chanina is available?

Anon (not verified) says:

Mazal tov to mike.

Muscles (not verified) says:

Mike's a good egg. He may not be qualified for the job but unlike some other patronage people, at least he's a mencsh.

Anonymous says:

some egg. scrambled maybe.

perhaps for the final few months pataki will actually be represented by a jew who ISN'T a nasty SOB.

anonymous (not verified) says:

not qualified? there aren't many Ivy League MBA's in the Pataki camp. overqualified maybe. SOB for sure

Anonymous says:

SOB? Are we talking about the same guy?

Anon (not verified) says:

Hes sure is an SOB.

Isaac (not verified) says:

Forget Chanina. He just lost his honorary title from the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council. Now he's just Chanina from Crown Heights.

Mike (not verified) says:

Mike might have been a tough nut to crack at times, but Pataki's other Jewish aide, Karen Paikin, is a delight.

He must have been really been doing a lot if he only gave two days notice

Michael is one of the most qualified people to ever be the 'Jewish Liaison' for the Governor. He did a terrific job and deserves his reward. He will be missed. As for Karen...she has some big shoes to fill, unfortunately, her feet are not that large.

Anonymous says:

Eh, there are no shoes to fill. Who are you kidding? George the IInd is as lame as can be. There are no liasion jobs that are worth anything these days.

Can anybody provide an iota of logic to this?

Anonymous says:

I thought he will take over Greenspuns place in the Bloomberg Administration.

He worked on the Bloomberg campgain, so he deserves a job.

Um..I think Horowitz was joking. Maybe he should enable the sarcasm tags for those of you who are sarcasm impaired.

AngryJew (not verified) says:

It's amazing that Horowitz finds it appropriate to joke about these matters. I am sure that he wouldn't make a joke at the expense of any other community. Apparently, beating up on the Jews and trying to link every Jew in politics to another Jew's actions is in vogue...quite frankly, it's disgusting.

Calm Down (not verified) says:

You nailed it. An anti-semite named Horowitz.

CalmJew (not verified) says:

I think that was Angry Jew's point: HOROWITZ thinks he can say whatever he wants because he's Jewish. Being Jewish does not give one the right to insult other Jews. Seriously, if we take a step back we would all agree that those additional comments where wholly irrelevant to Mr. Fragin (who has nothing to do with boro park demonstrations or CAU).

I thought that the Battery Park City Authority is really an entity of the State and not the City.

isac (not verified) says:

who is Karen Paikin and why is she a "delight"?

M (not verified) says:

Michael has been a delight to work with.Clearly what separates him from the rest is that he puts people first he will truly be missed.Best of luck.
