Faso's La-La Land

Could John Faso, in his wildest dreams, imagine that it would come to this?

Just a few months after the always-measured Stephen Minarik accused him of living in "la-la land" over his political strength, there was a satisfied-looking Faso on NY1 accusing Bill Weld of being the "desperate candidate" in the Republican primary.

Giving the knife an extra half-turn, considering Weld's view of himself as the rhetorical heir of either Lincoln or Douglas (or both), Faso also had this to say about his learned opponent: "I think that you can't run for governor of New York and hide from the press and hide from the media."

Watch the actual segment here.

UPDATE: Urban Elephants finds additional momentum for Faso. FURTHER UPDATE: Speaking of rhetorical airs, a helpful commentator points out that I meant "heir." Thanks.

The Donald (not verified) says:

John Faso has run an excellent cmpaign up to this point. He has continued to reach out at the grassroots level. He has the experience of running a New York statewide election which gives him the knowledge and experience to address state issues.

No candidate is perfect, however, he is more qualified and knowledgeable regarding New York State than Bill Weld.

Minarik should never have initially personally endorsed Weld until he spoke with all the county chairs for their opinion and done his research on both candidates. He was too eager to please Pataki as he was appointed by him to be the state chair. that decision was ignorant at best.

As it turns out, Faso would be a better representative for the state with his budget experience and statewide knowledge of most issues.

Decker College, blueblood heritage, and carpetbagging issues--fair or unfair--will follow Weld to November.

The "rhetorical air"???

Nassau Nell (not verified) says:

D'Amato has endorsed Spitzer; the race is over--at least Faso will unite the repubs and Conservatives. Weld should withdraw.

I say we just throw Weld and Faso into the bleachers at Yankee Stadium like Christians to the lions, and see who manages to survive -- the piece of crap from Red Sox Nation, or the dingus from Metland.

Bill Weld no longer has the fire. Anyone can see that. He walked away from the job as Governor of Mass and he's just going through the motions now. Faso has beaten him in every aspect of this campaign and he deserves the nomination. Weld should be a gentleman and bow out for the sake of the party.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there the possibility of an indictment coming down the pike for this guy on his financially self serving Decker College debacle? Maybe they can serve him his subpoena at the GOP nominating convention.

Anonymous says:

Weld's continuing candidacy is a sad exercise in egotism, exacerbated by an out of touch command. It is time for actual Republicans to speak up in this party. Your 15 minutes are up, Mr. Weld, please stagger off to your next misadventure.

GOPJay (not verified) says:

The worst thing in any political race is to have similar candidates who feel the same on many issues from two different parties. This would be Weld and Spitzer. Faso represents a stark contrast in viewpoints, and has proven himself a true conservative. Weld should save the Republican party and turn it back to the only thing that can save it....its conservative roots
