You are wrong: in 1990 Pierre Rinfret & George Yancey, Jr. were the republican candidates for Governor & Lt. Governor. Pataki did not appear on the ballet until 1994. And by the way to clear up a popular myth: in Pataki's last two elections, he would have won by nearly half a million votes without a single vote being cast for him on the conservative party line. But otherwise, the Pataki critique is not far off; the simple fact being he had terrible advisors after Mike Finnigan left.
