Security Rudy Trumps Gay Rights Rudy

More evidence that Rudy Giuliani's liberal social positions are either a) unimportant to the national Republican base or b) unknown to them.

A new Gallup poll finds that "only three candidates would be acceptable to a majority of Republicans." The are, in order: Giuliani with 73%, Condoleezza Rice with 68% and John McCain with 55%.

Of course, Giuliani is probably acceptable to the majority of Republicans because of his staunch advocacy of having black people shot at and/or sodomized with a plunger.

Yeah, but just wait til they catch the Saturday Night Live reruns!

Don't underestimate the Republican's base love of power. They probably love power more than their phony bible thumping morality. A lot like the Labor Party in the UK under Blair with the war. Like 90% of Labor hated the war but they stuck with Blair cause they loved power more. Watch the country club Christians come to terms with Rudy's relative tolerance for gay people.

America knows 9/11 Rudy only. Wait until they get to know the Rudy we know:

Rudy: Married his cousin.
Rudy: Brought his mistress into Gracie Mansion with his kids there.
Rudy: (as aluded to) Dressed in drag on SNL.
Rudy: Lived with a gay couple when Donna kicked him out of Gracie Mansion.
Rudy: Pro-Choice.

He has zero chance of getting the GOP nomination. Zero.

I take issue wit the idea that Rudy is pro-gay rights, however. That is a lot like saying that Bloomberg is pro-gay rights. Maybe he talks the talk, but both of their records on gay rights are dissapointing.

3/4 of a Loaf (not verified) says:

Wonk, Rudy supports civil unions, signed into law an Executive Order recognizing domestic partnerships in New York City, supports non-discrimination and anti-bias crimes legislation, and fought his boss, former Attorney General Ed Meese, when Meese tried to fire gays in the Justice Department -- and Rudy is a Republican. Back in mainland USA, that's what they call pro-gay rights, although I realize that makes him completely unacceptable to you, Alan Roskoff, and a lot of others who seem constitutionally incapable of accepting incremental progress without declaring all-out war.
