"Frontrunner" Clarke, Women and the 11th

Juda Engelmayer, Chris Lanier and Yvette Clarke after the rally
John Koblin has this dispatch from Yvette Clarke's event with female supporters earlier today:
"If, from the first day of this race, I was a woman, then why wasn't this always apart of the conversation?" asked Yvette Clarke before a rally at City Hall celebrating her femaleness.-- Josh BensonGood question.
We asked her campaign manager, Chris Lanier, the same thing. He said he planned on doing a rally like this for the last two months but just hadn't "gotten around to it."
Well, at least not until consultant Juda Engelmayer and the 5W reps got involved with the campaign.
"It's an obvious thing," said Mr. Engelmayer, who was standing just off to the side. "If the media doesn't see it, we help them find the story."
If only the media were there to see it. Due to an unexpected press gathering for Mayor Michael Bloomberg in midtown this afternoon, most of the City Hall press corps the campaign was eyeing for the rally didn't show. (There were a total of five reporters there for most of the event.)
"It's disappointing it had to turn out this way," Engelmayer said.
But it wasn't all bad. For the benefit of the couple of cameras in evidence, Yvette Clarke got her photo-op surrounded by a team of about 40 women supporters, including Betsy Gotbaum.
For the benefit of her small-but-captive audience, Clarke declared herself the "frontrunner" in this race - despite Carl Andrews' assessment - and said that she's the only "authentic" candidate for the district's female constituency.
When I asked Mr. Lanier if he thought his candidate was the frontrunner, he shook his head and said, "It's just too hard to tell."

Josh,
OMG who ARE these people? Have they worked on campaigns before? Did they talk to each other before the event? I guess it is too hard to tell.
I got news for you...no one but us are paying attention for the next two weeks....
The guy who runs the company is a clown who is part of the new blog world order. He trashes Dan Klores and Rubenstein in the papers, and fails to mention that he lays off employees about once a month because he cant pay his bills. That is, for those employees he actually has on salary, as opposed to all those interns with business cards running around cocktail parties saying they work at the new hot PR firm. Yeah he is real hot, but doesnt understand that there is something called the Day Book and they could have figured out the press was otherwise occupied with the Mayors Daily Briefing (hey fools at 5W or WD40 or whatever you call yourselves, the Daily Briefing is held EVERY DAY in case you didnt know.) Anyway, Clarke is going to win anyway but having nothing to do with these guys.
Yvette is not the frontrunner. She is running a poor campaign and will be likely to finish third. The frontrunner is Yassky, he's got more than three times the money as the other three candidates have combined. Like it or not, results of open races almost always reflect the fundraising standings.
Yasky or Evette. Evette will lead amonsgt AA's.
WD40 still sucks.
COMMENT DELETED
Okay WD40, recap time:
Day Book - published every Day and lists events going on that Day
Day: There are 7 days in the week.
Weekdays: Monday to Friday.
Mayors Daily Briefing: Public briefing held with reporters EACH DAY (hence Daily Briefing)
Mayor: Titular head of City government. Current occupant, Michael Bloomberg.
5W aka WD40: Going out of business soon.
Reason: You can't pay the rent on getting 5K to make believe Brittany Spears showed up at your clients club. Howard and Dan will be buying up your furniture once you close down.
Sounds like the boys from Knickerbocker are laying the groundwork to blame 5W if this goes badly. Smart move. If those guys are from outside politics, they won't even see this coming. Standard internal consultant warfare tactic. Very nice, kill the other guy even before the advertising hits the mailboxes.
This is Ronn Torossian, CEO and Owner of the company you are referencing. I dare anyone who wrote the above to say their name and post without a name. I will sue for libel. These are all blatant falsehoods and blasphemy.
We have run major campaigns and will continue to and Ms. Clarke is running a very successful campaign. There is 1 person writing these blogs.
If one expects to have any credibility, post with a name. How dare you.

5W, Knickerbocker McMillian Huslers -
Mr. Torossian, if you want to be a success in extending your business to politics, you can't have such thin skin.
That said, I find it hard to believe that you took a long look at Yvette Clarke's campaign and the best angle you could come up with was "she's a woman" just like shirley chisolm and eleanor roosevelt. The voters of the 11th CD in this day and age are going to vote for the best candidate, not the best black candidate or the best or only female candidate, but the best candidate.
Voters want substance, they want relevant debate on the issues and to vote for whoever best represents them. If you encourage a voter to vote for a candidate based on the candidate being a woman, or being one ethnicity or another, that insults the voters.
If you want Yvette to win, drop this emphasis on her deserving election based on her being the only woman in the race, which is shallow and insulting. Focus on the real issues facing this district, if a slick madison avenue consulting firm can actually relate to or understand central brooklyn.
Don't waste advertising dollars telling us she's a woman. We already know that. Tell us what she'd do, and how she'd do it. If you thoroughly researched her campaign and came to the conclusion that the only thing that sets her apart from the other candidates is she's female (and that seems to be your conclusion), that does not speak well for her candidacy.
Do me a favor. Want to get into a debate - Use your name and say who you are. Dont do it with a mask.
Torossian all one had to do was walk in to Clarke HQ in June and see pictures of Shirley Chisolm and Eleanor Roosevelt alone with other women on the walls.
Is there anything creative about your agency that I missed?
Welcome to Politics Faker
Mr. Ronn: I can't believe you actually wrote that - I have to believe you did not. Further, as an attorney, nothing said so far is blasphemous or cause for a libel suit, you just got your feelings hurt and that does not stand up in a court of law. Who you should be angry with is englemayer. Maybe your strategy is to highlight the fact that yvette is the only woman in the race, but does he have to announce it every chance he gets? This is the blog world. If the lamont/lieberman campaign has shown us anything, it is that the anonymous world of the blogs is effective (I remeber one week where an anonymous blogger spent days commenting on ben smith's private parts, and that thread remained).I live in yvette's district, and like her very much. But your firm has made her campaign all about 5W. She has become lost in your quest to become "known." Dare I say this, but look at yassky's campaign. He has been villified, scrutinized and attack at every turn and still, unless they are putting out a press release/statement or talking about the issues (and we haven't heard any from yvette), then the press secretary is SILENT. Let me get this straight, Mr. Ronn, you want us to identify ourselves because your guy doesn't know how to check the daybook? Oy vey...
Juda Engelmayer is doing PR for Yvette, his other business is selling bagels, and both products are empty at their center.
OK lets recap for Mr. Ronn:
Observation # 1: People in politics generally don't like their consultants throwing around claims of lawsuits. The notion of "discovery" doesnt appeal to folks who like to keep their stuff private. Una and Yvette must love the idea that you are going to start suing random voters.
Observation # 2: Unless the payphone is busy, call your lawyer and find out what "discovery" is.
Observation # 3: Some person must be blogging under this guys name because it is cant be so easy to get someone to freak out like this.
Observation # 4: You call yourself CEO and "Owner" capital "O". Last time I looked, "Owner" is not a title. Doufus on the other hand, is.
Observation # 5: Is John Flateau aware of your posts ? Somehow I dont think he is going to be too happy, especially after the brain surgeons who work for you scheduled a press conference on the steps of City Hall at the same exact moment the Mayor was giving his Daily Briefing inside City Hall, which was in the Day Book the day before.
Observation # 6: I follow this race pretty closely and read all the papers each day. The only PR for Evettte that I have seen is this really bad posting on the blog mocking your staff. Good job there Skippy.
Check the daybook...
Do any of you negative posters ever stop to think that maybe the press conference was set around the best availability of the 40 or more women who came out and stood there for Yvette, like Council members Rosie Mendez, Annabel Palma,
Melissa Mark-Viverito, and Rosie Mendez, PA Betsy Gotbaum, the ever-superstar Roberta Flack, Bishop Sylvetta Hamilton-Gonzales, Liz Abzug and more, and not necessarily the media?
This race is a Brooklyn local race. Daily News, Observer, NY Sun, Brooklyn Papers, NY Post, News 12, Jewish Week among others, is not a bad day, nor a bad way of getting to the voters.
Curious how it was the Observer's reporter John Koblin who wrote, "Due to an unexpected press gathering for Mayor Michael Bloomberg in midtown this afternoon" and not attributed to anyone's PR people, and even more curious how Yvette's detractors and jealous PR wannabees tried to make that issue Yvette's spokespersons comment.
The posts are transparent - Yvette is a player and people are scared, 5W is good and some out there seem unhappy about that.
Toughen up people. It's politics.
Is that the same Rosie Mendez who said after Marty Connor's (IND Reformer) her lawyer knocked her oppoent off the ballot said it was good for the city becuase it will save money in CFB matching funds.
See Rosie is pro dictorship and anti democracy.
Good endorsement Clarke, Rosie is about as dumb as they come.
This is Ron Popeil, CEO and Owner of Ronco, the company you are referencing. I dare anyone who wrote the above about my Showtime grill to give their name and post without a name. I will sue for libel. These are all blatant falsehoods and blasphemy. This product makes the juiciest leg of lamb with no mess. Just set it, and forget it.
We have run major infomercials and will continue to market the Showtime Grill, the Juiceman Juicers II, Ginzu Knives and other great products. There is 1 person writing these blogs.
If one expects to have any credibility, post with a name. How dare you.
There is a lot more than one person writing these blogs, and you can't sue every time you read something you don't like on here or on any blog. This is a blog, not a newspaper. The rights of people to be able to post expressing their opinions is constitutionally protected.
Mr. Popeil, how can you have the intelligence to run a company when you threaten to sue people and then demand they their names. Yvette should fire you based on the idiocy of your posts and demands.
The real shame of this blog and the tenor of the conversation is that it seeks to destroy or defame people involved in Clarke campaign from within a limited political circle
all these campaigns are duds. Whoever gets in office will be no better then Major maybe even worse
