The Morning Read: September 4, 2006

The New York Times endorsed Hillary Clinton for re-election, highlighting how she differed from Sen. Joe Lieberman after they both voted for the Iraq War. Lieberman stood with the administration; Hillary didn't. (Gloria Steinem, though, is not impressed.)

"All that said, she has hardly been a profile in courage...Mrs. Clinton's biggest flaw is her unwillingness to risk political capital for principle. That is not to say that she lacks principles, but whenever her moral convictions become politically inexpedient, she will struggle to find a way to cloak them in vague rhetoric or deflect attention with a compromise that makes the danger go away."

Chuck Schumer didn't give campaign money directly to Joe Lieberman, and didn't want too much attention for the help he did give Lieberman during his primary against Ned Lamont.

Political analyst Charles Cook said, "If nothing changes, I think the House will turn. The key is, if nothing changes."

Mark Green said he'll campaign on Sept. 11. And Yvette Clarke didn't report her entire salary from the City Council on her taxes.

The Times continues its obsession with beating Joe Lieberman even in its endorsement of Hillary. Why not just write why they support her, even make a passing reference to him.

No can do!! They hate him so because he is an observant Jew and the Times' owners ran away from their Judaism and then were indifferent to the plight of six million Jews killed by Hitler because they figured they were all Orthodox.

As for the war in Iraq, the Times can't have it both ways supporting people who were for it and then nuancing those they don't like. Maybe if Hillary's step grandfather was Orthodox too they would have endorsed Tasini.

Clarke failed to report additional income on her income taxes? You all better make sure you got that one right! I thought she failed to report all her income on the fillings with the Clerk of the House ( as reported in yesterday's Post)but if she screwed up with the tax man too ---Oh My! That would cross the line from pure stupidity to criminal-- no? Oh MY!

The Times couldnt find a single thing of substance to give her crdit for. The only thing they mentioned was she was the champion of the morning after pill. Great, Hillary helping woman become sluts.
