Old Family, New Era
Here is a visually arresting piece of literature a reader picked up near the Borough Hall train stop in Brooklyn last night.
Seeing the Statue of Liberty right behind the Brooklyn Bridge kind of catches your eye. But so does seeing the word words "New Era" anywhere near the name Tracy Boyland. Her brother, father and uncle all held an Assembly seat in Brooklyn, and after she was term limited from the City Council, her father ran for her seat. (Gotham Gazette has more here.)
For her current effort, Boyland has filed only one campaign finance statement with the state Board of Elections, showing she received one contribution for $100 and hasn't spent anything yet. A new era indeed.

Azi, it should also be noted that while she has filed one disclosure report (as a candidate and not a committee) as of today there is no "Boyland for Senate" committee listed on the BOE's active filer list.

The really sad thing is that one cannot stop this. The board of elections must be reformed. If you don't run a legal and compliant campaign... you should not be allowed to receive votes on election day.
Thank you Bruce Bender for giving us this lame ass non complying piece of crap for a candidate!
Velmanette is going to kick her ass good!
We owe a lot to Bruce Bender. After all, he's managed to turn Atlantic Yards into a racial conflict. Let's not forget his place at the table at the infamous Nick's Lobster meeting. Bruce, you're a class act.
As long as NYS has a toothless election law this will be the norm.
The money is comming from Ratner who the firm that produced the piece Knickerbocker work for as an unregistered lobbyist.
Maybe in 2013 Hynes will look in it?
