More Bloomberg 2008

carroll-sheekey.JPG

Pictured here is Mickey Carroll, the Quinnipiac pollster who has a survey about Mike Bloomberg's presidential bid, and Kevin Sheekey, the deputy mayor who helps keep the rumor of that bid alive.

Carroll said he told Sheekey that if Bloomberg wants to run, he has to "put together an organization in fifty states. [And] you got to protect yourself against the thieves."

As for the mayor's intentions of actually running, Carroll said "If he didn't like the idea, he'd tell Kevin to knock it off."

Here's some more on Bloomberg 2008, according to Carroll.

Huh? (not verified) says:

Why are they having political meetings in City Hall?

An independent can't win the presidency because the electoral college is rigged for the benefit of the two party system. If Bloomberg won the popular vote with 40%, he'd do so by finishing second in a number of states, and only the winner gets electoral votes. A strong second place finish in New York and California would mean zero electoral votes for Bloomberg.

Also the slates of electors for an independent would be problematic, whereas the gop and democratic elector slates would be established names. Bloomberg might have a hard time even fielding full elector slates in all the states. Even Ross Perot couldn't run full slates everywhere or even close.

How much did they pay mickey carroll and bloomberg might want to reconsider the role of sheeky and other political consultants in light of the national defeat of the Karl Rove like strategies.

Campaign reform is long overdue and it should begin with limits on media advertising.

These guys look like they are from Boston. This administration is sooo out of touch. It's amazing that 9 million nyers tolerate Bloomberg and his thugs.

i guess it is ok for the mayors people to meet with a pollster and discuss politics at city hall but God forbid a city employee is caught playing solitaire during his lunch break.

on another note, can the media mention why the mayor wants to ban city contractors from donating to city campaigns and at the same time he proudly gives 500k to the senate republicans. is it ok for the mayor to peddle influence but not others? someone tell the mayor that senate republicans have not always been the best friends of us city folks.

senate democrats would have given the mayor a better bang for his bucks!

3:33PM - Bloomberg wins 40% of the vote in New York and California to Hilary's 30% and McCain's 30%, that's 86 electoral votes right there. He needs 180 to win the presidency. Even worse, you think Wolfson ever planned to spend a dime in these states? Bloomberg has to spend at least $200 million.

And by the way 8:19pm - read Mickey Carroll's poll, Mike has a 72% approval rating, 63% among Hispanics and 67% among Blacks

Wake up people, this is real
