Poll: Yes to Term Limits in Albany
A new Quinnipiac poll says New Yorkers wants term limits for state lawmakers by a margin of 67 to 27 percent.
The survey didn't ask people what they thought of their own assembly member or senator, who keep getting re-elected despite the legislature's low overall approval rating.
But here's how they responded when asked about Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno.
Silver's job approval rating: 29 percent approve; 33 percent disapprove.
Bruno's : 27 percent approve; 36 percent disapprove.
For the sake of an apples-and-oranges comparison, Hillary Clinton's approval rating is 72-23 and Chuck Schumer's is 65-25.

Gee-
38% didn't have an opinion on Silver- 40% on Bruno.
Judging from my conversations with people who don't read and can't even spell "blog," my guess is because it's they don't know who they are.
Questions not asked:
Who is your Assembly person?
Who is your State Senator?
How long is their term of office?
Ask the average person if think it would be good for the State to throw out THEIR representatives every 4 years.
The question on school aid is also revealing. The lawsuit successfully argued that NYC was getting "shortchanged," yet 73% want to increase aid to upstate schools to match- and re-establish the disparity in funding.
The Wisdom of Eternity being what it is, it's a shame that the Tombstone vote is underrepresented in the poll.
fortunately, we don't let dumb polls choose legislative leaders. by nature the job which deals with the needs of the grass roots electeds (most of them are not corrupt like McGloughlin or Gonazalez) get perceived wrongly. No legislative leaders get elected to citywide or statewide posts if they represent their constituencies and that is how it should be. sadly voters are not sophisticated enough to get it because are media is busy playing "gotcha" journalism when they don't have their noses up Paris Hilton's umm nose.
Yeah, if the electorate realized that most State electeds just fund raise, glad hand and brown-nose for member item money until the leadership drops completed legislation on their desks for a vote, they'd respect them a lot more.
Let's have term limits for all Media barons and other corporate entities that receive tax breaks, FCC licenses and franchises from the government...if they don't want to be term limited then keep their hands out of taxpayer funds.
