Crowley and Pelosi
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just approved a waiver that will allow Joe Crowley to sit on the Foreign Relations Committee in addition to the the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, something he might otherwise have had to give up.
Normally, Ways and Means is one of the committee assignments that requires the assignee to give up seats on all other committees. (The others include Energy and Commerce, Financial Services, Appropriations and Rules.)
"I am grateful to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Steering Chair Rosa L. DeLauro for this opportunity to serve on the Committee on Foreign Affairs," Crowley said in a public statement.
Seems like whatever lingering resentment Pelosi may have had about Crowley opposing her unsuccessful candidate for House Majority Leader are over with.

I should hope so. After Nancy snuffed out Crowley's bid to join the leadership ranks by passing him over for the comparatively undistinguished John Larson, she's punished Crowley enough.
If Hillary wins the presidency look for this guy to be NY's new senator.
This sleaze of a Congressman slighted Al Baldeo for the State senate candidacy 2008 in favor of an insider in Queens Corrupt County Org. Yet he supports Nora Marino, who only got 38% of the vote compared to Baldeo's 49%. Both candidates are lawyers. Only difference is-Baldeo is not white. How's that for our great Joe Crawler? As for Mike Reich, this guy is arrogantly brutal to minorities, and will do whatever it takes to keep these worthy tax payers from political enlightenment.
Albert Baldeo, Hiram Monserrate, and other aggrieved minorities: Bring an action against the Queens County Dems under the Voting Rights Act and other discrimination laws, and blow these double dealings and racist manipulative tendencies wide open, against Joe Crowley, Mike Reich, Frank Bolz and Gerard Sweeney. A lot can be achieved if you get these guys on a lawsuit. Blow this BS wide open, so others can benefit! The right to vote and run for public office are sacrosanct-for EVERYONE, not them alone!
Crowley is an outstanding County Leader and he would make not only a wonderful US Senator, but a worthy Speaker of the House one day! He has empowered people from all backgrounds, just because County has had some issues with Monseratte and Baldeo does not make him bad.
11.05: Please state for the benefit of the public here and now the "some issues" that the "revered" Congressman and County Leader has with Albert Baldeo Esq, who has earned the right to be supported in normal circumstances by a fair machinery. Also, how come Crowley is supporting fellow attorney Nora Marino, when Baldeo got 49% vs her 39% last election. IS IT BECAUSE MARINO IS WHITE, WHEREAS BALDEO IS NOT? Also, which person like Albert Baldeo, who would be the first person like himself to take a seat at the table, has our distinguished Democratic leader, aided by the "honorable" Mike Reich, empowered? I advise Baldeo to tell the US Senate just how Crowley and Reich are treating him-in preference for another white candidate!
Joe Crowley has promoted Asians and Latinos throughout his career. He is always in Jackson Heights, uses his office to promote Indian issues, does outreach to the Latino community, works well with Nydia Velazquez, has worked on latino healthcare issues and is arguably the most hard working and active Member of the Queens delegation. Just because he didn't endorse Baldeo doesn't make him someone who doesn't promote minorities.
using monsterrat as an example really hurts your argument, this guy is a scumbag
Baldeo's non-endorsement will be very newsworthy, and Baldeo's advisors and consultants, who exposed and blasted Maltese nationally, may be left with no alternative than to do the same with Congressman Joe Crowley, and his chosen insider, Councilman Addabbo. Refusing Baldeo his endorsement, when Baldeo got 49%, is inexcusable, and downright criminal towards the very people of color who contribute and support Crowley. What's the message, "I'll take your contributions, but I can't endorse one of you who has earned my endorsement?" It's a dangerous and career threatening move by Crowley. I say, endorse Baldeo, Crowley. You can't run from him, or sweep him under the rug. It'll be a low down rotten, dirty shame on you and the Queens Dem County Org!
somebody tell albert baldeo that blogs do not win elections. if he wants to get elected in 08, he should start campaigning now and try getting elected without county's support. others have done it. start fundraising, knocking on doors and building an organization now instead of trying to force queens dems to support baldeo. it is clear they are not going with baldeo, so why complain about the inevitable. just make things happen and stop whining!
If Crowley had done that "passing over" in any other community, he would have been beheaded...
