More Races, More Waiting
Eliot Spitzer announced today that special elections will be held on March 27 for the vacancies created by the election of Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli as state Comptroller and by the death of Assemblyman John Lavelle.
Which leaves us to wait on the possible announcement of an a third election -- to succeed Assemblyman Pete Grannis of Manhattan. It's a contest that seems to be well underway despite the fact that Spitzer's nomination of Grannis to be the state's environmental conservation commissioner still hasn't been approved by the Republican-controlled state Senate.

Can he add on the Iginizio's seat if he wins the Council seat or will Staten Island have to have three seperate special elections?
Grannis isn't going anywhere. Spiter knew that when he drew him out of the race for Comptroller.
Grannis is the best Assemblymember from Manhattan. While I'm sure he would do a great job at DEC, the East Side and the Assembly will lose a lot if he leaves.
I wish Senator Krueger would focus more time and effort on securing Grannis' well-deserved confirmation by her Senate colleagues than on her dimming hopes to anoint Grannis' successor.
Dear 9:53 -- No chance. Kreuger is an egoistic bloviator who focuses on nothing but her very own self. Why do you think the State Senate Dems tossed her overboard this year?
