Silver Gets Atlantic Yards Analysis

The KPMG report that may explain how much money Atlantic Yards will make the state--and whatever happened to the missing half-billion dollars--is now in state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's hands.

Jessica Copen, a spokeswoman for the Empire State Development Corporation, said the report, which has not been distributed publicly (nor even to Assemblyman Richard Brodsky), was one of the documents the ESDC gave Silver's office as a result of Tuesday morning's meeting.

"The ESDC is providing all of the information that the PACB is asking for," she said.

The Public Authorities Control Board will either vote on the Brooklyn project on Wednesday--or it won't.

This is pretty hilarious. The ESDC at the last second decides it's worth giving the PACB a report on some minor insignificant detail (oh, what's a half a billion dollars between friends?) because some blogger realized there were some holes in the "transparent" Atlantic Yards process.

What other information are we missing? And if the ESDC has bungled this worse than the Keystone Cops, why should we believe anything they say?

"The ESDC is providing all of the information that the PACB is asking for," but is that enough? The PACB only asked about this money because they were forced to. Are they going to ask other relevant questions? Or are they any better than the ESDC board, which didn't even know the boundries of the Atlantic Yards footprint, much less the boundries of the subsidies that this project requires.

Thank goodness they haven't released any of this information publicly. That would really make negotiations difficult.

the irony is that the ESDC incompetents didnt do Ratner any favors and may have cost him the project. Their screw ups with the EIS, the financial forecasts and the arrongance of ESDC "boss" (in true Soprano fashion a boss) Charlie Gargano lost potential support for the project.

He and his miserable failure of a boss Governor don't know how to work a project that's good for the state only one that works for their personal benefit.

The latest news seems to chop Miss Brooklyn down a few stories. Gehry said that he didn't wan't that to happen- any chance that he'll bolt from this disaster?
