Harrison Ford Prepares to Punch Through His Central Park West Roof

This article was published in the November 24, 1997, edition of The New York Observer.

Harrison Ford is big-he'll run you $20 million a picture, and his movies have earned more than $2 billion in box office receipts. Now he's getting bigger. Or at least his apartment is.

Since 1989, Mr. Ford and his wife, screenwriter Melissa Mathison (who wrote E.T. ), have owned a three-bedroom, three-bath co-op on Central Park West in the low 70's. According to real estate sources, he's buying the eight-room apartment upstairs that's the twin of his current place. It was on the market for $2.7 million, and he is expected to have paid that much.

A second floor would enlarge the Ford home to almost 6,000 square feet and give them a second fireplace. (Mr. Ford's agent, Patricia McQueeney, had no comment). The Fords also own an 800-acre ranch in Wyoming and a four-bedroom house in Brentwood, Calif.
