<blockquote><p>Barry's family, friends and colleagues are overjoyed that the court threw out the preposterous charges against him, and that he is on his way home.  His only offense was honest journalism, telling Zimbabwe's story at a time of tormented transition.  <title>Times Says that Barry Bearak Has Been &#039;Falsely&#039; Charged</title>

 <description><![CDATA[<!--paging_filter--><p><em>The New York Times'</em> Barry Bearak, who was<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/05/world/africa/05zimbabwe.html?hp"> detained yesterday</a> in Zimbabwe, is still in jail. Catherine Mathis, spokeswoman for the paper, said that he has been &quot;falsely&quot; charged. She writes:  &quot;He has not been released. He's being charged, and falsely so, with passing himself off as an accredited journalist.&quot;</p>
