A $32 Million Townhouse Sells on East 67th

Investment banker Gerhard Andlinger, and his wife, Jeanne purchased the building for around $17 million in 2003. Since May 2005, the five-story, 13,000-square-foot townhouse was listed at $32 million. However, it is now selling for closer to $28.5 million, according to a source.
Architect C.P.H. Gilbert designed the mansion in 1881 for financier Jules S. Bache--a name that might familiar to anyone who's lingered around the galleries at the Metropolitan Museum, of which Bache was a devoted patron.
Over the years, it has housed many distinguised New Yorkers, but was also the sight of a tragedy. In 1997, former owner, art collector socialite Kitty Meyer, perished in a fire while trying to save a friend. However, it was completely renovated afterwards. read more »
Broker C. Graham Uffelman, of Brown Harris Stevens, confirmed that the townhouse is under contract, but declined to comment on the price.
